"<p>JJ came to look at the situation on the day I called. While he knew what needed to be done, he recommended an analysis by a structural engineer so there would be no questions as to what was done in the future.  His engineer produced a stamped report for a reasonable price and in a timely manner.</p> <p>The final cost was slightly above the estimate, however there ended up being some additional work that needed to be done that was not included in the initial quote.</p> <p>It was important to me that the work be completed before winter and it was. Nothing is perfect and there were a couple of minor miscommunications regarding scheduling along the way, but when I reached out to JJ, he was quick to respond and reset my expectations.</p> <p>The actual work was done primarily by Truman. Both JJ and Truman clearly took pride in the quality of the finished product and I would definitely call on them again.</p> <p>Regarding the ratings. I'm a firm believer that no one is perfect and an A should only be granted to those who perform flawlessly and who complete work ahead of schedule and under budget. Those who meet my criteria of perfection are few and far between. A "B" rating in some categories should NOT be taken in any way as a negative.</p> <br />"

"We received a preliminary quote very easily from their showroom. After checking with 3 more places we realized they were by far the best price. (One place actually came in 3x higher.) When I called to covert it to a job they had a guy stop by that day and measure and go over the details of the job. The install date took a while but that could have been partly our fault as we went away for a few weeks before the job was done. The only reason I gave them a mark down on professionalism is because they sent 3 guys to do the work and it seemed like only the older guy did 90% of the work. At times the younger (20's) were swinging on my kids swing and sitting down watching the other guy work. Final product was excellent though. One reason why I choose them was that they installed a fence 25 years ago at my parents house that still looks great, so I had no fear of them just being cheaper."

"Kost Kutters, Dino takes great care in his work. After an initial stall he came in a  timely manner, could easily be reached by telephone. His work and the work of his subcontractor which he oversaw, was meticulous. His quoted price was lower than the other bids I got, & remained close to it to the end. All the work was that of experienced people who care about what they do. As a result the finished product is gorgeous. They were aware life continues around them, took appropriate precautions with young children, dust, tools etc. I highly recommend this company! They are honest, reasonably priced and fair tradesmen who do beautiful work."

"Charles St Supply is the quintessential neighborhood hardware store. If you think the stores cramped now, you should have seen it when it was half the size with a fish market on the other side! My family has been shopping there for more than thirty years. We've grown up with Dick, Jack, Norm and the rest of the crew. When my brother locked himself in the bathroom, we called Jack for advice. When we got locked out of the house, we went to CSSC because they had a spare. This is a shopping list store. I went to get a vacuum cleaner, bags, a roll of duct tape and cedar chips. That's exactly what I got. I also dropped off a lamp to be rewired. I didn't have to hem and haw over a wall full of options. Instead, the guy I talked to asked what general style I wanted. I didn't care much beyond being able to carry it up and downstairs. This is true for most of their customers. They know the neighborhood and have stocked their shelves accordingly. And they deliver! Not only am I a customer for life, but one for generations."
