"William and his crew were punctual, courteous, and professional. William walked me through the process for the work, inspected the areas he needed to access, and answered all my questions with enthusiasm which made me feel respected as a customer. They worked diligently and when the whole job was complete, including air quality testing, he walked me through for approval. I truly think my basement was left cleaner than before they started. I had nothing to clean up, throw out, or pick up after they were done. I am so pleased I used BlueStone for my Asbestos removal project and their pricing was right in line with a competitor. Thank you!"

"In order to apply for a demolition permit through Cook County, a building first needs to be tested for asbestos. We called Environmental Consulting Group and Jacob came out to take the samples they'd need to do the testing. Within a couple of days, we had an email with the negative results of those tests. It was a pretty cut and dry process, so there's not much else to say about the job itself. However, Jacob knew we were in a hurry to get our demolition application filed with the county and he made it a priority to get me the results as quickly as possible, going so far as to email those results on a holiday weekend. I'm impressed with his dedication and as a result, would recommend this company to anyone needing their services."

"The spring and early summer had record rainfalls which delayed the schedule, but the crew was careful to paint when the conditions were acceptable. In fact, it unexpectedly rained on the second day of painting, and the crew repainted the one side that was adversely affected. They were thorough in all their prep work, and were careful to cover plants and other objects. The crew of three (Jack, Joe and Juan) were courteous, and the lead painter, Jack, kept us well informed throughout the process. We are very satisfied with the job they did. We had gotten 5 estimates that ranged significantly from very low to high. Precision was at the higher end, but we had the most confidence that they would do a good job given the initial interactions when the estimate was done and the strong praise from a number of references. Given the quality of the work that was done, we thought what we paid was reasonable. We would certainly be using Precision again when we need further painting. <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Montgomery, IL

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
