"I woke up Saturday morning to the sound of the wind ripping the siding off one side of my house. I started looking online for siding repair but the companies who said they did repair actually only would completely redo the siding for the entire house. I got a call from Rave Renovation around 11:30 AM. Brian came out a little later to look at the damage and said it could be repaired without taking down all the siding on the side of the house. He sent someone out a couple of hours later who did the repairs even with the wind still blowing strongly. He was very professional and friendly and did a great job. I couldn't believe I was able to have the repairs done the same day and for a very reasonable price. Thank you SO MUCH Rave Renovation! I absolutely recommend them."

"I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.
Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future.

"Moss Painting did careful prep work, including pressure washing, scraping, caulking, and replacing boards as needed. They did multiple coats on all painted and stained wood. They worked hard through very tough heat, and cleaned up well after themselves. Everything looks great."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Moore, SC

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
