"The crews were extraordinarily polite, friendly, efficient, and very energetic. They ran into a lot of underground water when digging the trench for the buckled wall repair, but were able to put in the necessary reinforcements from inside the basement extending out to the trenched area. We live in an area with a lot of underground springs and artesian water, and when they began work the dirt under the foundation and crawl space was just wet mud, and water poured in at 36 inches deep as they created an outlet for the water to be safely drained away from the house. The basement is completely dry and we have a back up sump pump. My basement is surrounded by a crawl space since it was added after the house was built. The sump pumps and dehumidifier are warrantied for 5 years and the waterproofing has a lifetime warranty. Our house had problems because the basement was added after the house was built, but Indiana Foundation was able to make the house safe, and completely dry and usable. Since we live on a hillside, we will be adding a French drain behind the house and garage, far enough away to not further damage any of the foundations, but at the natural flow of the hillside where water collects to run down hill or underground. If we go at least 36 inches deep, it should help reduce some of the water that flows into the house area. This was some advice given by the supervisor at Indiana Foundation. They don't install French drains any longer, as they don't carry away all water and don't carry a guarantee, but in our situation it will probably help and is something I will be contracting out in the near future. The French drain is similar to what farmers install in fields to drain away excess water to a creek or deep ditch. It isn't something we have to do, but it will put a lot less strain on the sump pumps and other equipment, and in case of a long term power outage, would likely save our other appliances too (furnace, water heater, walls, etc.). I love the battery back up pump and it has already been in use twice when we had two separate power outages from storms. The workmen from Indiana Foundation were delightful to have in my home, running in and out with loads of materials, cheerfully hammering the walls and floors to install their system. Second: My electrician was able to repair a line running to our garage after the water problem was resolved. Water poured in over the connections in the basement without our realizing it, and no electricity was live in the back room of the garage. New basement, New Electric, New Plumbing - we are very happy with the results!"

"<p>I have used Don (the owner) many times in the past for plumbing at my family business, and at two different homes that I have owned.  It is a pleasure to put down in writing after this many years, what a pleasure it is to work with him.</p> <p>Don knows his stuff.  And, can be very helpful in not just doing the job at hand, but helping you consider different options when doing "new" plumbing work.  Such was the case on this occasion.  Don put in a large utility sink for me.  He had to cut into an existing sewer stack and run lines to the sink location.  He also helped us think through where we were going to put the sink in this unfinished basement.</p> <p>As usual, Don did an excellent job.  He also noticed a 'pressure' problem with the water in the house and tested a pressure tank on our old water heater.  We found it to be defective and Don replaced that as well.</p> <p>Don is not the least expensive plumber around.  But, do not let his hourly rate fool you.  Another plumber may tell you he charges less per hour.  But, Don is the fastest plumber I have ever seen.  His efficiency and expertise pay off in the long run!</p> <br />"

"Four men arrived early and went right to work. All insulation was pulled out, bagged and taped and hauled away. They came back for day 2 and spread the plastic, stone, installed new sump pump, dug the pipe line for the french drain, and replaced sod back in the ground over the pipe. They finished midday and cleaned everything up. We were very impressed with their work ethic. Kudos to them!"

"The septic tank was pumped satisfactorily. The problem we had was that our gate and latching mechanism were damage by his employee doing the work. We were told that the gate was damaged. We called Mr Andrews after we discovered that gate was damaged. Mr Andrews told me that his employees were independent contractors and were responsible for any damages that occur. Mr Andrews asked me to send him pictures and a description of the damage. He said he would have his independent contractor contact me to resolve the issue. To date we have not heard from his independent contractor or Mr Andrews to resolve the issue The company does a good pumping your septic tank but doesn't take care of any damages that they cause. "We were having problems with what turned out to be a broken sewer line, causing intermittent backups and flooding during heavy rain. Two other plumbers managed to get the drain flowing again but neither gave us a definite diagnosis without a contract to dig. Nieman quickly diagnosed the problem, gave the best price by far, and initially tried a trenchless repair. That proved to be unfeasible, and the job was re-spec’d for excavation. The guys did a careful and highly efficient excavation, replaced the broken saddle tee, and brought in gravel to stabilize the backfill. Two weeks later they returned and removed the spoils. I’m very happy with the results, and that Neman honored their price estimate even with the added excavation work. My only complaint was getting the work scheduled, which took more calling (about 6 calls from me vs. two return calls) than I thought should be necessary. Otherwise everyone involved was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and admirably professional."

"No problems with the quality of the work or the time it took, but it was surprisingly expensive. So much so that I almost regretted having the work done. The plumber found the shut-off valves inoperable and began replacing them without telling me about it or the additional cost. I should have looked over his shoulder more often and asked more questions, but I did not. Any repairman beginning additional repairs without asking really rubs me the wrong way and leads to a "B" rating at best and a "No" on hiring again. Learn from my mistake: make certain that you do your research on pricing and agree on a price range and scope of work with Geiler (or anyone, for that matter) before they begin the work."

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"Phil Tischbein and Brent were both very professional and pleasant to work with; they work was all performed very carefully, and as planned. They were highly recommended by someone I know through a business relationship who had used their services. Prior to the appointment for cleaning and scoping the sewer drains, they did not charge me for considerable time spent in looking over the home diagnostically for considerations of some drainpipe (off downspouts) redirection work, general diagnostics from walking around the yard that preceded the actual sewer line cleaning and scoping, and cleaning of the trap in the basement. They offered me a couple of proposals for possible ways of handling the downspout/drainpipe issue (too many downspouts apparently being directed toward the inside of the house, through the interior drains or improperly draining to the outside, rather than draining directly outside at a distance from the house). The actual scoping and cleaning of the drains showed the network of piping to be slightly different than originally thought, so some of the drainpipe redirection work is being reconsidered. I also opted to postpone one particular project because of other work planned on the same side of the house that would have involved the drainpipe work, and will reconsider after this other work is completed. In addition, I was given some helpful suggestions regarding improvement of my driveway drain, their solution being an equally suitable and simpler alternative to an idea provided by another contractor. Following the diagnostic & cleaning, Brent kindly drew me a diagram/map of the drainpipe directions and flow, where they drain, and which run through the house (or not). The detail is being provided essentially to communicate that they are very patient and careful in the way that they work with a homeowner, and did not encourage additional work that was either unnecessary, or premature given other projects. My experience thus far has been that they will take the time to diagnose the situation carefully and work out a solution that is agreeable to you as a homeowner, and that takes your priorities into account. It did take a little longer than I might have wanted to have the diagnostic completed, but they were very busy at the time I scheduled initially, and I was very happy with the work completed. They are very thorough, careful, trustworthy and have the kind of extensive experience in doing this work that was important for me, and I think is of value to many homeowners."

"There was a pipe from the bathroom that was under the tub so they had to take part of the kitchen ceiling out, replace that pipe and then another pipe, fixed the ceiling, they had one of their guys come and put up a ceiling fan light because the light was messed up in all of this, re-plastered and then they put tar around the tub to keep water from going down again."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Moores Hill, IN

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
