"I researched basement waterproofing solutions and was considering doing it myself. Then I found Safe Basements and read the literature about their product/process. To me, it seemed better than other similar products. I was surprised that they cover my place -- 2 hours into Wisconsin, or 3 hours from Litchfield. Brad came out to inspect the problems in my basement -- horizontal cracking, bowing, and water intrusion. He was able to explain the causes of those problems as well as others that I hadn't noticed. We agreed to pay for anchors to stabilize one wall that was bowing, and install drain tile and a sump pump. I'll be honest, I didn't shop around. I have no idea what other companies are charging for the same services. I normally get 3 or 4 bids or other opinions. I felt comfortable with the amount of research that I'd done, the knowledge Brad seemed to have, and the information about the products that I decided to hire Safe Basements without talking to other companies. I don't regret that decision. The wall anchor/stabilization crew called me before leaving Litchfield. Their ETA was pretty close to the actual time of arrival. When they arrived, we discussed the work being done. They did the work. They cleaned up. They gave me information about the anchor system and what I needed to do to correct the bowing and cracks. Everything was done as expected. The drain tile/sump crew was stuck at a previous job. They called me the day before (Tuesday) my job was expected to start to let me know there would be a delay starting my job. He then called in the middle of the start day (Wednesday) to let me know, they wouldn't be to my house until the next day. I was expecting a call between 7 and 8 on Thursday to let me know they were leaving Litchfield. Instead, I got a call at about 7:15 to let me know they were 15 minutes from my house. When they arrived, we talked about the work to be done, they cocooned my stuff in plastic, and they went to work. I think they worked until about 7 that day. They returned on Friday at about 8:30, having stopped to dump my concrete and dirt and to pick up gravel and concrete. They worked until about 10:30pm on Friday. I appreciated that they finished on Friday even though it was later than I expected. They cleaned up everything thoroughly, and walked me through the details of the sump pump and battery backup systems. Even though they'd driven a long distance, worked two very long days, and it was very late Friday, I didn't feel they rushed through. The job was complete. I think they would have stayed later if I'd had anymore questions. Unfortunately, one of the workers left his very nice tape measure, and I have not been able to get it back to him."

"It went great. I was worring that the whole garage door might have to be replaced it was great to find out it was just 1 panel. <br /> I went  to get the paper and noticed that there was a gap in the garage door at the floor level, like it hadn't closed completely. When I looked at the garage door I noticed it was closed completely and that there was a bulge in it at the lower middle of the door. It looked like it had been lightly hit by something. From the inside it looked like it bulged out ward from the outside it looked like it bulged inward, weird. <br /> So I looked on Angie's list found Lipe Brothers Construction provides free estimates and they appropriately licensed. They were able to send someone the very next day to come over and look at and get a free estimate. <br /> He was able to show that it was caused by someone backing the car out of the garage and not the garage being hit from the outside. He was also able to show that it was the upper corner of the car trunk that dinged the garage door when backing out (the car must have been in the garage at a slight angle) it hit the garage door as the it was opening since there was a mark in a somewhat diagonal line on the bottom panel of the garage door. <p>The garage door is a panel design (4 panels) only the bottom panel was damaged when someone back out of the garage while the garage was opening but not completely open. For those reading it was not me since I let the other people in the family do the driving. <br /> So, one very important question answered, I thought that it might have been a deer or car from the outside hitting the garage. In addition, the next important question was answered since it was a panel design only the bottom panel needed to be replaced the panel above it were ok. It was also convenient that the garage door had the model and part numbers clearly visible on it. <br /> He advised that he would have to order the bottom panel and once it came in they could set up a time to have it replaced. <br /> When he came and replaced the bottom panel the one above it wasn't being pushed out any more and it look as good as before. He noticed that when that garage door closed the top snapped closed and asked if I had noticed that before. I said that sometimes when it closes at the top there is a jerk like motion at the top of the garage door when it closes. After watching it a couple of times he was noticed that the track on one side, when the wheels of the garage door came to the bottom of the track it sometimes hit the edges of the clamps that held the laser eye beam in place. He was able to adjust it by the track by loosening the screw at the bottom of that track and moving it just a bit so that the wheels didn't hit the clamps. After he did that it was the first time that I have noticed the garage door close smoothly like the other garage door. He also checked the other garage door about this and it was ok. <br /> Once everything was done he greased the tracks with a spray grease. </p> <br /> <br />"

"Thank you to JM Inc. for the excellent work they did on replacing a fireplace with an outstanding stone mason one. They also put in a 3 season porch, patio, and cement garage apron. All were done professionally with constant communication on progress and asking for feedback. You can count on them to show up on time and keep on track. They also did a great job of cleanup and keeping the house clean while working on the project. A big thanks to project manager Kyle, mason Shawn, Trent and carpenter Thomas. We are very happy with the job professionally done."

"Nick came and gave me an estimate on a Tuesday and took the trees down the next day. This was part 1 of 2. He will be installing a fence, removing a concrete patio area and fixing the really ugly flower beds. He has been very helpful through this whole process. Because of his prompt service I have hired him to do some tree work at my rental property."

"The work went very well.  We had a few rain delays, but that could not be helped.  Also we were coordinating other work with another contractor (see R and R Concrete) that sometimes caused delays. They showed up when expected, excavated one side of the house and dug holes on the other (walk out basement) for the piers.  When finished the yard was repaired as good as could be expected for St Louis summer. I have a little work to do on it now that it has cooled off. I had to have cracks repaired inside and concrete work done on the outside.  The people they recommended did wonderful work. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Moose Lake, MN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
