"When I first called, he is very nice and friendly, he said he will comes take a look, then he really did but he said he will be back again to take a closer look and he did came back. Kind of very surprising for me because a lot of times when people said that! They never came back. Also when I asked him to fix the ceiling too even not his carrier but he had got his friends came to fixed it. He’s Very responsibility and had came back to checked it’s again after the jobs done. I’v gave him thumbs up and will recommend to everyone and my friend also myself to hire him for the roofing project. Thank you so much Jeff."

"They care. And it is obvious. I would recommend them 1000 times over. I started my search for a roofing contractor during the pandemic and was universally unimpressed with the bulk of contractors who came to estimate the job. That is, prior to meeting Gabe and the folks at Top Notch. Not only are the competitively priced, but they send an actual roofing expert out for estimating, as opposed to a salesman. I immediately felt was in good hands as he answered all my questions with authority and knowledge. On the job site, the crew was clean, polite, and professional. We did have a few hiccups along the way, which as anyone who has ever done renovation can tell you, is par for the course. These specific hiccups were discontinued products and shipping damages that were simply accidents. Just bad luck that had nothing to do with Top Notch. But it was their reaction to the situation that really won me over. Gabe, the foreman, and Jessica went above and beyond to come to my house on multiple weekends to install skylights because that is the kind of business they operate."

"Fantastic My wife and I were having a very difficult time finding a local outfit to replace our leaking roof before winter fully set in. The quotes we received for a spring job were very high. I called Tim at Black Ox thinking he would be too far away or also fully booked. I was surprised to hear back that he would be able to get it done before the winter and his quote was much more reasonable than the larger outfits. In short Tim got the job done when he said he would and at the price quoted. He saw that we would need some additional insulation and simply got that done as well. He and his crew were here and gone in a shockingly few number of days, even working in bitter cold. The roof is spectacular and the house so much warmer. It was almost as if they were never here and this perfect standing seam roof magically appeared almost over night. I assume he is able to do this because he does one type of roof only and because he spends all day at work in the field. Do not expect lengthy conversations with Tim. If he says he will get it done at a certain time at a certain price he will. Send in your deposit and be patient. Tim is a very busy man and actually up on roofs working rather than on the phone or computer chatting. It is refreshing to work with someone in such a straight forward manner, but you must trust him. In return you will have a beautiful new standing seam roof of the best materials, perfectly installed by a master of the craft, at an unbeatable price. We can recommend Black Ox without any hesitation and feel very lucky to have discovered this treasure."

"David LaPlant came out and spent the better part of an hour with me, explaining in detail everything that was wrong with the existing shingles and everything that he would replace and what their process would be. When he left me with the quote there were no questions left unanswered and every eventuality had been covered. I was impressed by the amount of detail David went into and how thorough his explanation was. He was not in the least bit vague about any part of the job. David and his crew arrived on the day and at the time he said they would and we found the entire crew extremely polite and professional. I would add patient as well, seeing as they answered my questions about how and why things are done a certain way. Their ultimate goal was customer satisfaction and a job well done which showed in every detail of their work. They removed and re-installed our skylight and went the extra step by installing a new flashing which was missing from it. Our furnace flashing had been something we had wanted to replace for years but had never been able to find. David sourced a new one and his crew installed it at no extra cost to us. It is very seldom that you get something for nothing these days. It just went on to prove to me that here is a business owner more concerned with quality of service than how much they can financially gain from customers. At the end of each work day you could not tell a roof was being ripped off. I have yet to find a single nail or staple anywhere on the lawn, the gutters are spotless and not a scratch or mark on the siding. A big factor in our decision to use David LaPlant and AATEKINC for our roof replacement was his quality of product and LIFETIME work guarantee. You get what you pay for and we are thrilled with our new roof. The project was completed at the quoted price and there we no "extras" that needed to be covered. A big thanks to the AATEK team: David LaPlant, Shawn, Jeremiah and Cody."

"Jason from L&M Construction quoted a very fair price, did an excel lent job in replacing our exsisting roofing, cleaned up thoroughly, and overall was a pleasure to deal with. We had multiple communications during the job and he was always accomadating and even keeled in his approach. Subsequently we have used him again for flood repairs and consultations on home improvements and never been disappointed. I strongly recommend L&M Construction and will be definitely be using them again."

"I would definitely hire him again. He was very nice and curious. The work he performed was excellent. We talked and I'm pretty sure he's the one I'm going to hire when I get my roof done. The best part was the price was right in my ballpark. Definitely will be using him in the future."

"Overall our experience with Cedar Creek was very good. Roofing was completed in one day with workmanship and clean-up being excellent. Communication would be the only area with room for slight improvement as both the estimate and the work were completed at times that were not expected. That said, the roofing was completed on a day that we thought supplies were being dropped at our home, so it was ahead of what we had expected - a welcome surprise! <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Moretown, VT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
