"Very pleased. Hard, conscientious workers. Larry the owner did a good job communicating and kept us informed about delays due to weather, which was much appreciated. The quality of the work is much better than I anticipated and looks great! He made the process easy as he took care of all the permits required in our community. All I had to do was go to the office and sign my name. They also took care of all the landscaping associated with widening the drive."

"Mr. Litle is personable, knowledgable, and richly experienced in his field. He gave us an estimate for removing the concrete, and his son and a helper came and removed the concrete with heavy equipment and carted away the debris. Mr. Litle was here to observe much of the work. The job site was left clean and neat. Of equal or even greater importance, this man, whose company is focused on pouring concrete, strongly advised us NOT to have the section just removed re-poured. On seeing what was happening beneath the remaining section of our driveway, he advised us to have crushed stone set in place instead of concrete. He also believed that if we drilled into the existing concrete to install rebar to help stabilize a new pour, the old concrete might more quickly deteriorate. He is the ONLY contractor to so advise us, and his reasons made sense. We took his advice and are glad we did. We would use his company again in a heartbeat. <br />"

"remodeling a home is never a pleasant task but I can honestly say that Coulter Construction made the process a lot easier. Mr. Coulter was on site every day supervising his subcontractors. And when a problem did arise, as problems always do in construction, Mr Coulter was right on top of it. And when the job was completed Mr. Coulter did not ask for a check until everything was to our complete satisfaction. It isn't everyday you find a construction firm with the integrity of Coulter Construction."

"My old steps were really bad.  Looked bad, steep, narrow tread, wobbly handrail.  A difficult installation, many factors had to be considered that I never thought about.  Involved some exterior plastering eventually.  Stairs are really beautiful now.  The rock facing Irv used is beautiful.  These stairs are such an improvement, words don't express it.  Irv is a great guy, easy going, knowledgable.  Very fair price and a great result.  This is not a simple project by any means.  Very satisfied. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Morriston, FL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
