"Unfortunately our experience with Ray was not a pleasant one and this review is being posted to make sure people are aware of the type of work he provides. We hired Ray on February 03, 2025 after walking him through our home and showing him the work we wanted done prior to us moving in. The requested items were to: 1. Paint the inside of the house which he quoted us at $1000 2. Replace baseboards throughout the house for $500 3. Remove double doors in the master bedroom that led to another bedroom and close up that space for $10004. Install kitchen cabinets for $3000 5. Do some work on the patio such as paint and trim for $500. The total came in at $6000, this price was for labor only. We agreed we would provide all the materials he needed to complete the work. He asked for a deposit of 50% but we ended up giving a deposit of $2500 in good faith to begin the work. Two weeks into the contract, we noticed that the work was not getting done as quickly as Ray had promised he would have it completed. We had given Ray a key to come in as needed since we weren't living in the home yet. However, we found that he sometimes wouldn't show up to the house and we would have to reach out for an update. He had gotten sick but he said he would work over the weekend and at night if need be in order to have the work completed by the time we needed to move in. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and continued to work with him. The following week we again saw very little progress, when we asked for an update Ray was reluctant to provide one. We informed him that we would need some communication in order to reassure ourselves that the work will get done. 3 weeks into the contract and the only work that had been completed was a closed off wall, some paint in the 3 of the bedrooms and the 4th bedroom was mostly untouched. In order to speed things up before our move in, we hired another contractor to start on the kitchen (line item #3). We informed Ray this was happening and listed out what we needed him to complete before we moved in. He agreed but once again the amount of hours he put into his work were minimal, he would show up for 1-3 hours a day. He also started to take some of his tools home, saying he didn't need them to complete the work he was doing on the home. Over the weekend of March 1st, we ended up moving in with some of the bedrooms uncompleted. We spent the weekend painting part of the house we would be occupying so we could move our things in without getting paint on them. Ray showed up to work and started to paint another part of the house but the following day (a Friday) he didn't show up. We texted him if he was going to come to the house and he responded with a question, asking if it was raining outside, implying it was too humid to paint. Even though there was still plenty of work to do such as the baseboards and small other items he agreed to do to make up for the fact that we painted 1/3 of the house. This brings us to the week of March 10th, 5 weeks later from the date we hired him and he still hadn't completed line items 1 & 2. He showed up to work the following week, completed 2 baseboards and left after just two hours of work, leaving work uncompleted and took the remainder of his tools without saying a word. We messaged Ray 2 more times, to try to reach an amicable agreement on the work that was left undone. We asked for a partial refund but the only response we received was that he did other work not listed on the invoice. We asked for him to elaborate on this work and he did not respond. We also still haven't received our house key. "

"I hired Emergency Air for routine HVAC maintenance. They informed me that my units needed replacement soon and offered a discounted install if I agreed immediately, as they had a cancellation. The discount included a cosmetically damaged return unit, which they disclosed upfront. Although I initially wanted to collect more quotes, their promise to match any "apples-to-apples" offer persuaded me to proceed. Installation happened quickly, but the crew left debris behind (including insulation and a 3' Unistrut), failed to anchor the units properly, and generally gave the impression they didn’t want to be there. Follow-ups were required for several issues: anchoring the units, caulking vents, repairing drywall, and fixing a loosened shelf. These stretched out into November. When I later tried to invoke the apples-to-apples price match, I was told it didn’t apply post-installation—contrary to what I was promised. After persistent follow-up, I was eventually told I had two years to submit comparable quotes. I did exactly that—twice—with valid, lower-cost quotes for the same equipment. Emergency Air stalled responses, rejected the quotes over technicalities (like unsigned documents), and ultimately claimed my lower quotes didn’t offer the same “value.” Their internal comparison was inaccurate—listing services they never performed, such as installing a new condenser pad (they reused the old one). When I raised these concerns, they doubled down, insisting the price difference was justified. A representative even accused me of being unethical for seeking price matching after installation—despite it being part of their sales pitch. After months of delays, broken promises, and evasive communication (including missed calls and ignored emails), I gave up. It took until April to get any resolution, and even that felt like a dismissal. Bottom line: Emergency Air did not honor their own price match policy, misrepresented their services, and showed poor customer service throughout. I would not recommend them to anyone. Always get multiple quotes—don’t make the same mistake I did."

"They installed a new ac unit for me two years ago. Now they insist I get the unit cleaned at my cost. It’s not dirty ?? They took away my warranty. Now if I want it back I need to pay them 125.00 bucks ?? They never said I need the cleaning done now ?? Just pay them money. Not my first bad experience with them. Just shows you how stupid I am for using them twice."

If you’re replacing an old AC system with a new unit, you can usually clean and repair the old ductwork without having to conduct a full replacement. Cleaning HVAC ducts typically costs around $400, while repairs range from $200 to $1,000. In contrast, installing new ductwork can range from $1,000 to $5,000, making it far more costly than cleaning or fixing existing ducts. HVAC installation costs an average of $7,000 to replace a full system, so staying on top of maintenance and repairs is important.
AC cost efficiency depends on the size of your space and your long-term plans for your home. If you only need to cool a small area, a portable AC unit has a low upfront cost. Heat pumps are typically the most cost-effective option if you want to cool an entire home or improve the resale value. They provide strong cooling while being energy-efficient, which saves you money on your utility bills compared to most other AC types.
Installing a central AC unit typically takes four to eight hours if your home already has ductwork in place. However, if new ductwork needs to be installed, this can add another one to two days of labor to your project.
