"Calvey is a company in which industry best practices are sometimes not followed. In 2021, Calvey installed a 4-ton, single stage Bryant suitcase unit on my property. This unit has seen less than 20 hr, likely less than 10 hr of runtime in these 3 years. It has evidence of an electrical fire due to completely loose - not even snugged connections on the contactor which should have been torqued to 35 in-lbs. In my case, this led to the failure of the contactor, which lit on fire and shorted out the 24v control coil, which killed my Nest thermostat before blowing the fuse in my furnace. This would very likely have been prevented if Calvey had followed industry best practices, which are to use a clamp meter to measure LRA and FLA to ensure they match the LRA/FLA rating.
