That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. "Wedge Construction (Ken McCallon) was very prompt and courteous and the fact that he was finishing a project that we started ourselves did not deter him. He even took the time to correct some things we initially didn't do to his standard which was very much appreciated.  We explained our goal was to have the new aluminum railings  match an existing fence and he made it happen. Wedge Construction wasn't the lowest bid we received but he took my calls or promptly returned them.  Some of the other bidders were very slow to respond and I had to "chase" one bid down for almost two weeks.  I pretty much knew that contractor wasn't going to get the job but I always like 3-4 bids to make sure everyone understands the scope. As a rule I eliminate the lowest and highest bid and Wedge Construction was right in the middle.  His bid included purchasing materials, tearing out the old wood and removal.  His workmanship is guaranteed for two years which was another great advantage that no one else offered. 

While Ken was working on the deck we had another small project going which required a new bathroom vanity to be set.  I asked him if he was interested in doing that for us and he took a look and gave me a very reasonable quote and did it the next day.  Once the onyx was set and plumbing installed he came back and trimmed out the bathroom as well.

"Colby and his crew had done a wonderful job. He had came over a couple time to discuss the project with me before we decided what was going to be done. He was a huge help with choosing colors that matched the theme we were trying to create.

He had given me a bid on painting all the rooms we agreed on and also gave me optional pricing on drywall repairs and  damaged trim work, I didn't even know he could fix that until he suggested what would be best for the project to look great.

It took his crews about 2 days to prep everything and repair the drywall and trim. After that they had painted for about 3 days, and also came back after Colby and I walked the project and pointed out any areas that needed touched up.  Total time was around 1 week to 10 days.

I absolutely love the new home and the paint colors Colby picked out. ( A combination of Pavilion Beige, Humble Gold and Bauhaus Buff in the kitchen and dining room areas & Timeless Sage and Amaretto in the hallways and bathrooms.)

His bid for the project wasn't the cheapest, nor was it the most expensive. He certainly has good communication skills, he called me to tell me that his crew was going to be 20 minutes late on the 2nd day of painting.. which I really appreciated.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."
