"Heritage Roofing and Construction is so much more than a roofing company. They were called when we noticed some water damage in the house. Once we identified all the issues with the roof, his team started work on our timeline. They replaced the entire roof, repaired the inside damage on the wall and ceiling, and repaired additional damage on the shed, garage door, side door. In addition, after they were complete they cleaned up everything. They did such a good job we didn’t need to clean a thing. In every aspect of the job, they performed superbly."

"Superior Roofing is fantastic! We had hail damage and needed our house re-roofed. They came in with about 20 workers and completed the job IN ONE DAY! I was pleasantly surprised that the workers were courteous, focused on their work, and seemed genuinely concerned that we were satisfied. About 2 years after the job, squirrels chewed through part of our roof, including the felt under the shingles. Even though it wasn't the fault of Superior Roofing, when the son of the owner came to look at it, he told us they would fix it. They did and they didn't charge us. We are going to build a mother-in-law cottage on our property and Superior Roofing will definitely be our roofer for the job."

"I offered 3 local, highly rated companies the opportunity to provide a quote and bid for a new roof as well as a substantial amount of repair work to the existing trim (fascia). All three responded quickly to send someone out to meet us and do the requisite inspection/measurement of the work requested, and all three representatives were professional and informative. However, Mr. Guyette was far ahead of the others in his approach, attention to detail, and willingness (determination?) to be sure we understood the details behind his approach, recommendations, and ultimately the quote itself. Though Guyette's quote was the highest of the three, it was not by a significant amount, and each company's itemization varied enough that it would be difficult to say this was an apples to apples comparison. Be that as it may, our choice was to go with Guyette, and we are very happy with that choice now that the work has been completed. The workcrew arrived as scheduled, moments before sunrise, and immediately dispersed into action. It was clear from the get go, that this team had plenty of experience working with each other, and they performed from start to finish as one very polished machine. The work was completed as planned, all in one day... and this included a last minute request (my bad) to re-roof a 12x16 barn while they were here. The roof looks great, the house surrounds (driveway/yard/patio/etc....) are cleaner that when they arrived, and though I hope not to ever need to re-roof this house, Guyette is the only choice I would make should I need it."

"Mr. Sanford and his team were very courteous and professional. They replaced over 15 windows in our house with energy efficient windows that have an excellent warranty. They repaired some wood rot under one of the old windows before installing the new window without hesitation and removed all debris upon completion."

"I emailed the company on a weekend and the owner was at my house on the following Monday to provide a quote. We signed the paperwork, and a week later on Tuesday the crew showed up to begin the installation. On Friday it was complete. <br /> The company owner spent several hours with us talking about the roof, the materials, the process and answering any questions that we had. The crew manager then came to get exact measurements and look over the house.  <br /> I was impressed with the installation team. They were obviously very experienced in installing metal roofs. My house is pretty tall and the roof is steep, but they had no problems at all. It was also one of the hottest weeks we have had but I never heard any complaints. They were professional, courteous and friendly.  Also, the cleanup was excellent. There was no damage at all to the lawn or shrubbery. <br /> Overall I am very pleased. Not to mention the new roof earns me a discount on my homeowners insurance! <br />"

"I called American Roofing because of a small wet stain we noticed in a <br /> bedroom.  Someone came out right away and after inspecting the roof and <br /> attic, he determined the roof was fine but a small amount of water was <br /> coming in around a pipe.  All it needed was some sealer around the <br /> pipe.  Since that company also does gutters I got him to look at and <br /> give me a price for new gutters and guards around the roof line over the <br /> patio.  They did the work on the gutters within a couple of days but <br /> had to order the gutter guard.  They came back in one week and finished <br /> up putting the guards up and sealing the corner and down spout joints.  <br /> They were very professional and nice to work with.  The gutters work <br /> well, match the house and look very nice. <br />"

"The work crew arrived on time, and, over approximately 3 days, removed the old roof, replaced damaged decking, replaced flashing, and put down deck felt, and repaired a damaged soffit.  The new roofing was the style and color I requested.  What I was equally impressed with was the clean up! <br />"

".They showed when they said they would and cleaned everything up.  It looks good.  I think they provide their customers with thicker/stronger boards to sit on while in the shelter.  I also think the shelters should come at least 5.5 to 6 feet tall.  Most families have at least one family member or friend that is over 5 feet tall.  If we have to stay in it for a hour to several hours, we need to be able to stand up.  They were careful with the equipment and quick.  I recommend you look for any cracks in your garage around where they will be installing the shelter and driveway, so if you see any cracks once they are finished you can have them fix it.  I also recommend that you tell your neighbors that you will be having a shelter installed and ask if they can move their vehicles out of the street.  Ground Zero has a very long trailer they pull their equipment on and they need room to turn around on/in the street. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Mount Meigs, AL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
