It was a big project involving tearing out an old rotting wooden retaining wall and installing one with interlocking blocks -- a LOT of blocks along a very long stretch, multiple levels, and in a place that machinery could not easily reach. I put it out for multiple bids, and some people just make up (higher) numbers. Hector's bid was very competitive, maybe even the lowest, and he did more work than anyone else was proposing to do. In particular, an additional design element that he proposed (he was the only one I talked to who took the time to find out what I liked and didn't like and made a creative suggestion for something new, rather than just replacing what the old one looked like). And then the team was all super professional and friendly, took the time needed to do the job right and it was a lot of very hard work. We've been getting a lot of compliments on the results. Would hire these guys again in a heartbeat."

"Danny and his team are incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of home remodeling, work hard and fast, maintain excellent communication, and do it at a fair, no-surprises cost. They took on a project that turned into a gut renovation of our 100-year-old basement and turned a dank, cramped pair of rooms into a bright, functional space where my kids can play safely and I can work comfortably. They demo'ed an old kitchen, knocked out walls, built custom cabinetry and storage, rerouted piping and electrical components, even took time to experiment to make a match for the disrupted floor tiles. They painted the walls, painted and stained the steps, and did other projects like hang a new attic door and install a new toilet. I will be calling Champion exclusively for all my future home maintenance/improvement needs. Cannot recommend them enough."

"I had a stone, slate and concrete entryway staircase of 3 or 4 steps that was in disrepair and that looked to have been built somewhat amateurishly and unevenly by a prior homeowner. <br /> I received several estimates from other masons who determined that this existing stairway would need to be entirely torn out and a brand new stone staircase built at a cost of $2,500 to $3,000. <br /> Luis from L & Z Masonry figured out a clever way to retain most of the existing concrete structure, install new bluestone treads, and raise/rebuild a portion of the existing slate walkway to make the whole stairway even and to meet code.  The results were outstanding and saved me a significant amount over what had been quoted by his competitors.  This stairway will probably stand for the next 100 years. <br /> It takes considerable skill and experience to come up with a creative solution the way Luis did. <br /> I recommend him without reservation and hope to use him again to rebuild a stone patio in the future. <br />"
