"Eddie here Lakes at Plantation Pines, Chris the owner, installed a patio, and a French drain, every step of the installation went super smooth, Castlerock went above and beyond expectations, such as moving a sprinkler head instead of tapping it off, the people that work for Castlerock are top of the line, high, high quality. I would recommend the company to all, and the results, the patio looks fantastic. And they do it all, patio, drains, sprinklers, sod."

Customers say: Super punctual

"It went very well. Done in two phases due to seasons. Very friendly and helpful workers. Good craftsmanship, 4 raised beds . Filled with rocks for drainage and fill soil- would have preferred garden soil. Roots were not removed fully from old bushes. Would have preferred all surface roots removed. Beds were cleaned out and river rock replaced lava rock, the new edging was great. Trees-crepe myrtles - three planted, good size , really pretty. Arborvitae and Italian cypress were very small, not what I expected, would have preferred bigger but cypress not available due to season. Overal, quite happy."

Customers say: Quick response

"They didn't do one thing that I needed done but they didn't quote it either. I mistakenly assumed that it was included, it was edging around the rock beds. For what they actually quoted me on, they did and did well. I realized later that their price was $400-$500 less than the other people. I presume it was because of the edging cost because they quoted me like $450 to do the edging when I approached them later. They kind of disappeared for a while when I was trying to follow up with the edging issue They finally did respond but it wasn't the response I was looking for. I can't rate punctuality, the time they showed up didn't matter. I didn't have any dealings other than with the owner and that was good."

"From beginning to end we could not have asked for a better company to install our pool. We met Larry and Michele at the Home Show in Myrtle Beach. The information that was given at that time was nothing more then great marketing. We made an appointment on the spot and met with the Sales team within a few days. Michele took the time to explain costs, expectations and how everything would go step by step. We were even so secure in our decision that we went to Mexico while our pool was being installed. We chose a Latham pool Bermuda and are so happy with the decision of Shale with blue glass tile. Thank you Larry, Michele, Lisa, Mike and Team....I will always recommend them over any other pool company."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Murrells Inlet, SC

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
