Customers say: Super punctual

"We gave Terinelli a poor review and of course it was not well recieved. There is absolutely no doubt that we were justified. We just had to remove the wall behind the shower because of a leak from poor plumbing. As a result, we had mold and had to pay a company for mold removal / remediation. Around $1000 in repairs. Initially, we gave them a bad review for several reasons: They had to tear out the tile because itcwas so poorly done. If we had not called them on it, they would just left it the way it was. They did not stick to the schedule. They dumped debris into the vent in the floor. We found that out when the mold company came. They never completed the deep cleaning as an apology for all of their mishaps. The list just goes on and on. If I could, I would upload the pictures of the damage from the leak. If you do hire this company, I would definitely inspect their work before payment."

"Vanessa was amazing and went above and beyond being our contractor for this important project. She acted as designer and advisor as well. Being a two hour drive she made the effort to come multiple times to ensure that the project was being completed at a high standard. We are incredibly pleased with the results and will only use Vanessa with any future projects. Thank you!!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"This is the second time I have used 1st Source for remodeling. First time was to move wall, create a unique entry way, and improve line of sight in the house. The result was just what I wanted, and unique and pretty stunning. On time and under budget. Latest project was a complete kitchen remodel. Everything was demolished. New kitchen island created with sink, counter and dishwasher (that required cracking concrete and moving plumbing. All new kitchen cabinets, pantry, counters, backsplash, flooring. The project came out perfect. Achieve what I wanted including maximizing space, cabinets, and again, a uniqueness to distinguish my home from others in the neighborhood. All quality products, new appliances, wonderful sub-contractors, CLEAN, exacting, responsive. This major project also came in on-time and under budget, even when additions/changes were made on the fly. Jon is so easy to work with, and collaborative. There is not another professional with whom I would want to do business. You can take advice, and trust that what is being told is to achieve the desired outcome. If one has a project, call 1st Source, and just know that it will be what you want."

"Daniel is great to work with. They started off really strong. Things started to delay. I am still waiting for them to finish. The project is looking really great. Yes, I did make some changes to the original plan. I would recommend Carpenter Construction."

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Myrtle Beach, SC

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
