"Sections of our chain link fence and 2 gates needed to be repaired. Due to settling 2 areas of our fence were leaning and 2 gates wouldn't close because the fence had shifted. We got 3 quotes for repairs. The first 2 companies both said they needed to replace the sections of top rail and posts, along with the gates, which was expensive. Dan said the fence could be adjusted without replacing everything. The project was done soon after he came out to look at it. Dan and his crew got the job done quickly.  A few things were fixed, replaced and the rest was adjusted so that it is straight and the gates latch again. We really appreciate Dan fixing the problems without adding on unnecessary costs and replacing things that didn't need to be replaced. I contacted Darren and he was able to have us on the schedule for an estimate within the week. Once he evaluated our issues, he got us on the schedule and within another week was working on the problems. The work took about a half day, with the only delay coming after he couldn't find a replacement hose for the kitchen. He offered to either continue looking, or install a new kitchen faucet/sprayer combo. We opted for the new sprayer and he selected one that matched both the style and finish of the rest of our kitchen while remaining affordable, functional, and an easier brand to find repair in the future. Their communication, promptness, and professionalism were greatly appreciated. We would definitely use them again."

We got a dog and I paid to have this fence put in. 6 weeks later, it's clear the dog is just not working out for our family and I call them and ask if I might sell them back at least the collar piece. They say they give a full, no questions asked type warranty for I believe 6 months or something like that, and insist on a full refund. I say no, please, it took a good 2 hours to install the wire around my house -- let me pay for your out of pocket expenses! They insist on a full refund -- They are great, I'd absolutely use again. "We originally spoke to Peckel and two other contractors in 2009 for an estimate on a new fence, but had decided to hold off on installing one that year. When we decided to go ahead with it this year, we only called Peckels due to the great service we received last year, including the amount of time they had spent with us talking about our plans/options and the very detailed estimate/plans we had received. When they arrived to update our estimate, they had the original plan/estimate in hand and were able to recall our discussion from a year before! We discussed some changes we wanted, some problem areas we hoped they could address, and also were told about this great buy on tongue and groove cedar they had recently received. Due to changes to our original fence design and the great buy on wood, the estimate came down almost $2000, so we were very pleased. They also noted that we had dogs, so that they would have to work fast to get the old fence down and the new one up. They estimated they could begin the work in 3 weeks and were right on target. They removed our old chain link and installed the new posts in about a day and half. The cement work around the base of the posts was very professionally finished off and the posts were perfectly aligned. As they began the fence installation, they ran into a few problems in our yard that changed the originally plan, but made sure to reach out to us to discuss our options befpre proceeding. The fence installation took about 2? days, and we couldn't be happier! Our yard is not level, sloping down in one corner, and they did an incredible job adjusting the fence to match the slope while keeping the top line laser leveled. We also had requested a double gate along the back to allow us to open up the fence to throw snow off our driveway, and they created a great double gate for just that. They knew the reason for the new fence was one of our dogs, who fancies himself an escape artist, and took great care to ensure any opening was small enough to prevent his escape (so far he has searched every corner with no success!). They also took great care to finish off our neighbors chain links fences to not leave any gaps for them, which we (and they) greatly appreciated. The finished product is great! We love the look of it and the craftmanship! Everyone we dealt with at Peckels was professional and considerate - always thanking us for the work. This was one of the best experiences we have ever had with a contractor, and would definitely recommend them to friends/family or hire them again."

"An excellent experience. 

I called Jim in a panic.  I explained that the crew from a tree service  just left our house, having cut through our chain link fence in two places to remove three small weed trees from our yard.  The problem was, that fence separates our yard from our neighbors' yard -- and their two dogs, who would be running around the yard in about six hours. 

I desperately wanted that fence fixed before they got home.  I told Jim my story, and he promptly called one of his project managers, who left a job on the other side of town to come over and fix our fence.  I couldn't have asked for better work or a nicer guy to do the repairs.  "

"Hal is quirky and sometimes hard to keep in contact with.  It took a while to arrange everything.  I say this because you may well encounter the same issue if you use him.  Despite that it was worth it, so I offer it as a warning but also encouragement to be persistent anyway.
We used Hal before.  When we wanted to add another section of fence we had some designs I wanted to build myself, but I loathe putting in posts.  We contacted several fencing contractors, looking just for putting in posts.  Quite a few were completely uninterested in the job, either evidenced by never following through on an estimate, or giving us absurdly high quotes.  Everyone else was more expensive than Hal ? it's hard to say by exactly how much, since they were quoting slightly different jobs, but I think 50% more expensive or more.
Talking to Hal we decided to have him build the entire outside of the fence; for sound insulation we would later add an inner layer, insulation between the layers, and a sort of built-in planter and bench.  I would have felt comfortable with Hal doing that part too, but actually explaining what I wanted (and deciding what I wanted) seemed too complex, so I had decided early on to do most of that myself.
Since we knew we needed a bunch of extra lumber, that should match what Hal was using, we asked him about it, and he was happy to order extra wood and deliver it with the rest of the supplies.  I didn't expect him to plane the wood and use a router on the edges, but he did, which is great.  It makes the fence look far better than if it was using wood straight from the lumberyard.  He even softens the edges of the posts.
