Small jobs welcome

"We had been meaning to have someone look at the health of our backyard trees, and I'm so glad to have found Arborist care l Care Urban Forestry. Mathew was professional, pleasant, and extremely knowledgeable. He told us what he recommended (trimming, cabling) and why, as well as what WASN'T necessary in this case (treatment for destructive bugs, removal of a leaning tree). He then performed the job efficiently and with care."

Offers commercial services

Arbor Doctor LLC is based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and serves customers in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky suburbs. We offer Complete plant health care services, tree and shrub care, consulting, tree diagnostics and preservation. We DO NOT do large tree pruning or removal although we perform risk assessment and work with referral partners who do the pruning and removal. Unlike pesticides, our sprays are healthy for your plants. The nutrients thicken the cell walls to help the plants defend themselves from insect attacks and be as resistant as possible to disease. We specialize in the care, treatment, preservation, and installation of woody landscape plants. We also offer tree risk assessment and consulting services. We are a tree health and preservation, not removal, company. Visit us at www.ArborDoctor.com.

"Oasis is very good and very professional. They always let you know when they'll be treating your lawn and then send information to you about what they treated it with. If you have a particular concern (maybe some pesky weeds) they are very responsive."

"It went very well. They trimmed my hedge according to my specifications. They were very efficient, and they cleaned everything up nicely. They also arrived when they said they would, and they called ahead when they said that they would. They were friendly and polite, and I would hire them again."

"Werbrich's Landscaping has completed several projects at our home. Bluestone patio, retaining walls, decorative walls, outdoor lighting, landscaping bed design and plantings. Steve is amazing to work with, he understands how to adapt the design to your budget and still deliver a quality product. We have enjoyed our outdoor spaces created by the team. They take extra care to protect the areas around the property. Webrich's is always on our list of teams to call and one of the first to recommend to others."

"I had just had a tree removed from my front lawn that was already uneven and pitted in several places. The estimate was fair, they were on time and did a great job. Several neighbors have stopped to tell me how great the front lawn looks!"

"I was so impressed with Harvest and Habitat! Lovely to work with on all levels. I had an overgrown hill that other landscapers were unable to help with. They took the time to explain the initial and long term process. I appreciated the holistic approach, not using any chemicals, and taking the time to educate me along the way. Communication was great, and they are all a pleasure to work with. I was also lucky enough to host some goats for goat scaping as well. That was an effective way to clear the land, and I so enjoyed having them around. I recommend their services, and will continue to have them back yearly for maintenance, and to continue their vision for my property."

FAQs for trees & shrubs treat, protect and maintain projects in Newport, KY

The optimal transplanting season depends on your tree species, but most trees respond best when moved during dormancy. For deciduous trees, late fall after leaf drop or early spring before bud break provides the lowest stress periods. Evergreens transplant better in early fall or late summer when soil temperatures remain warm enough for some root growth. Avoiding transplanting during active growth periods helps trees direct energy toward establishing new roots rather than supporting foliage.

While technically, trees of any size can be transplanted with the right equipment and expertise, practical considerations limit what's reasonable for most homeowners. Trees with trunk diameters under 15 inches are most commonly transplanted in residential settings. Success rates decline as trees increase in size and age, with specimens over 24 inches in diameter presenting significant challenges and costs. For large trees, carefully weigh the substantial investment against the potential benefits and survival probability.

Most transplanted trees require one to two years to fully establish in their new location, with larger specimens often needing additional time. During this establishment period, the tree regenerates roots that were inevitably lost during the move. Signs of successful establishment include normal seasonal growth patterns, healthy leaf development, and reduced dependence on supplemental watering. The quality of aftercare during this critical period significantly influences long-term survival rates.

Self-transplanting is feasible for small trees with trunk diameters under two to three inches if you have proper tools and follow correct techniques. However, medium to large trees require professional expertise and specialized equipment to ensure tree survival and property protection. While professional services cost more initially, they achieve much higher success rates and prevent potential damage to your property or the tree itself. The investment in professional services often proves worthwhile when considering the value of mature trees.
