Customers say: Quick response

"Jason took our stairs to the basement that were a tiny spiral mid evil type stair case and made them so amazing. He also took out 7 layers of flooring in our kitchen and laid new real wood to match our current wood floor. He also drove out of his way to pick up our new granite. He came back a couple years later and redid our entire front porch and did some electrical and other odd and end jobs. He is an honest man and Works very hard."

"<p>From initial design to project closeout First Choice met all our expectations.</p> <p>Starting with the design they worked with us to incorporate our ideas and they also shared many great ideas they had.  The end result is wonderful and we are very happy with our new backyard.  </p> <p>During the work their crews were very efficient, easy to communicate with and went out of their way to keep the work zone safe for our family and pets.  Their attention to detail and care and quality they put into the project is to be commended.  </p> <p>Upon completion the follow up was just as impressive.  Calls to make sure all was well and that the plants were flourishing were made with offers to come review if anything needed attention.</p> <p>Would highly recommend this company for any of your landscaping or hardscaping needs.  Top notch Company!    </p> <br />"

"It's beautiful. We have a patio, firepit and retaining wall. They were awesome to work with and would recommend to all. They really treat people the way they would treat family. Don't be surprised if you ask them to bid a project, with other contractors bidding as well, and Authentic Stone is the only one to reply. That's your first sign. Don't be surprised if you receive other bids and AS comes in the lowest. That should be your final sign. No subs, they do the work themselves, great communication and job was done in 5 days. We look forward to having them back for more jobs."

"Never a moment of doubt or regret for choosing CDW. Great web page, and the owner, Mike Bennett, was professional to the core. He was patient and calm, clearly explained his work and vision for my project, and enunciated beautifully (icing on the cake). I told him straight up I needed his guidance on this project and he took it from there. Mike widened the drive just enough so I’ll no longer get tangled up in tree roots, and he evened out the sidewalk. The finished job was crisp, smooth - even pretty. There was no mess left behind. I trusted him completely and would highly recommend Concrete Design Works. Thank you, Mike!"

"Chris the landscape designer was great.  Very friendly, knowledgeable and detailed.  He knew where and why to put different plants and trees.  He listened to what we wanted to use the space as and include in the design.  The plans included measurements, images, and specifics on plants and material.  He was available and responsive and even met us at nursery to show different options and explain. <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Nicholasville, KY

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
