"Never a moment of doubt or regret for choosing CDW. Great web page, and the owner, Mike Bennett, was professional to the core. He was patient and calm, clearly explained his work and vision for my project, and enunciated beautifully (icing on the cake). I told him straight up I needed his guidance on this project and he took it from there. Mike widened the drive just enough so I’ll no longer get tangled up in tree roots, and he evened out the sidewalk. The finished job was crisp, smooth - even pretty. There was no mess left behind. I trusted him completely and would highly recommend Concrete Design Works. Thank you, Mike!"

"We invested an inordinate amount of time pursuing a major project with them for a number of months as the scope of work increased. After we were almost done and on the same page, ready to sign contracts to move forward & break ground, they backed out, forcing us to start all over with a different contractor. Heard they got some other more profitable simple jobs. Although we were stunned at such unprofessional behavior, we were eventually very grateful that we feel dodged a bullet. At the end of the day, this company would have been a nightmare on such a big project. Yes, they have an extremely slick selling presentation with all kinds of high tech software and online project management promises. But they only have one local guy (who seems very nice) and the management of the company was all out of town. The local guy had no authority to make ANY decisions—had had to go to them for everything. Every single time we had to meet to review or revise the scope of work as we were putting the initial project together, we would have to wait an entire month until a manager could be in town. In hindsight, we had such a problem just getting things underway, we cannot imagine how bogged down it would have become down the road."

Retaining Wall Masters, established in 2008, is a full service earth-retaining company based in Florence, KY. Over the past 5 years, we have installed over 2,000,000 square-feet of retaining walls in both residential and commercial applications. Our services include the installation of modular block retaining walls, helical anchors and helical piers, DOT mechanically stabilized earth walls, welded wire walls, gabion basket walls, granite rubble walls as well as cross-tie repair and replacement. We work primarily in the greater Cincinnati and Lexington areas but we are also willing to travel throughout the state of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. \n\nOur hillside/landslide division specializes in the installation of hillside stabilization, prevention, and monitoring. To date we have completed projects in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana and we will remain loyal to these service areas only. Our design and installation process is guaranteed with a full structural warranty (ask about our 10 to 20 year warranty program). All of our retaining walls are overseen by a licensed structural engineer.\n\nRetaining Wall Masters can provide owners and contractors with construction drawings designed by us and our Professional Engineer. We also offer construction verification which is often a requirement of municipalities in order to close out retaining wall permits. Our team is familiar with local municipal ordinances which will make the permitting process easier and less time consuming.\n

"TERRIBLE, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR HARDSCAPE!!! We hired Sharp Lawn to do hardscape around our pool. It has been a disaster since the beginning. They sent two guys out here who had NO IDEA what they were doing. After many calls to the company they sent some workers out to look at what had been done. They too said it was a disaster, worst they had seen in over 20 years!! They had to tear our everything the first guys had done which led to huge amounts of dust and debris in the pool, on the deck and on the back of the house! The dust from sanding down the concrete the first guys put in has been a monumental task in and of itself. My husband and I have had to work almost every evening cleaning the deck, the windows and removing debris from the pool! This has been an absolute nightmare!! Please do not use this company for hardscape!! If you have a project scheduled please cancel it! They should not advertise they do hardscape because they are incompetent! The owner has lied to us over and over again. The project was supposed to be finished by the first week in June then by June 24th and then by July 4th. It is not only not finished but hazardous! We have had to cancel all of our summer plans due to their ineptness. Please heed my warning and DO NOT USE SHARP LAWN!!!"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Nicholasville, KY

To calculate your paver needs:

  • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

  • Determine how many square feet you need.

  • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

  • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

  • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

  • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

  • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
