"Ron is a fantastic jack-of-all-trades. Ron renovated the roof of our large old pole barn and put in a concrete floor. We were very pleased with the work and he gave us the most competitive estimate - and then stuck to that estimate! We had the unfortunate luck that a large tree fell in our barn soon after completion. What re the chances!? We again hired Ron - this time to clear the tree and repair the (now severely damaged) pole barn. Trust him entirely! His work is great and he is easy to communicate with."

"We had custom built-in cabinets done and the final result exceeded our expectations. The craftsmanship is top-tier—everything is perfectly aligned, solid, and truly high-end. He paid incredible attention to detail and made sure the design fit seamlessly with the rest of our space. The project stayed on schedule, communication was great, and the pricing was very reasonable for this level of custom work. If you’re looking for high-quality built-ins or custom carpentry, I highly recommend him."

"They came the same day, and did an amazing job! They installed 2 ceiling fans, 4 lights and lanai carpeting. Everyone was professional, and knowledgeable. The price was very reasonable. I do plan on using them again, and I will certainly recommend them to friends and neighbors."

"Bara Customs did an awesome job helping me with my home. Kyle remodeled our master bathroom. He removed the tub, ran the plumbing for the shower and installed the new shower. He also hung drywall in on of our bedrooms that previously had water damage. I highly recommend Bara Customs. They were professional, highly skilled and gave us exactly what we wanted. I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. "

"Ron evaluated the existing 40 year old bridge and quoted a new bridge using all marine grade wood and fasteners. His work was top shelf, on time etc, etc. He cleaned up after each work day.I observed him all six days it took to tear out and replace, Ron is an excellent carpenter/builder and was a pleasure to watch a skilled craftsman at work. FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Nokomis, FL

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
