"This is the second time I have used Planit dirt to do concrete work for me. They are very good at their job. I have had them build a retaining wall, pour a car parking pad and just recently poured and stamped a beautiful patio. I will continue to use them and recommend them for future projects."

"Two workers worked a half-day on 3/20. On that day, they got failed sections of fence removed, old posts dug up and new posts set in concrete. Didn't finish this day because concrete needs to cure overnight. Next day, on 3/21, two different workers came, worked a half-day to custom-build 5 sections of fencing and attach them to new posts. On both days, all work proceeded speedily but also with attention to detail and appearance. At my request, workers salvaged a dozen pickets for me to use elsewhere on the fenceline. All debris was removed and hauled away. New fence perfectly matches existing fence in pattern and slope -- except, of course, it is not yet weathered. The wood was high-quality pressure-treated wood, which they guarantee for a number of years. <br />"

"We were impressed with all aspects of the project, from start to end. The work was excellent and the people professional. Ours was a tricky job because our yard has a pretty steep slope, but the owner Scott walked us through everything and was very detail-oriented. The price wasn't cheap, but it was certainly fair given the extensive nature of the project. <br />"

"Todd and Barry repaired my brick mailbox that had been knocked over. Todd was quick to get back with quotes and scheduling the repair. The turnaround time for the repair was less than one week. He was very thorough with explaining the job he was going to do and his work was extremely well done. I would hire Todd to do any future brick work."

"Very smooth project. He arrived on time for the estimate and scheduled work to begin the following Monday. When the weather forecasts started hinting at some rain, he called an asked if he could start work on Sunday, followed by actually pouring the concrete on Monday. Anybody willing to do that kind of work on a Sunday gets a vote of approval from me! He asked for 50% payment at the mid-point, with a final payment after the concrete was poured, smoothed, and we had approved the work."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in North Little Rock, AR

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
