"RPI said they used their own crews but they had sub contracted a crew to install my roof (All Roofing companies do this). After the old roof was removed and it was dried in, they came back the next day and were installing shingles in the rain on a wet roof. I had to ask them to stop and come back the next day when it was not raining. The GAF Cobra2 Ridge vents were installed incorrectly, Only one side of the ridge was cutout on all the ridges. I had to ask them to do them over. One of the ridges was overcut + 3 inches on each side where the vent was not even supported properly. That was the main roof. I had to get another manager involved, convince them it was not installed correctly, then took over a month to get them back with a crew and the proper materials to correct the problem. They used top quality materials and the end result turned out great after the ridge vent issue was corrected so I'm giving a B rating."

"I cannot express how happy I am with Blaine Construction. They were on time, within budget, and most importantly did the job right. I was under an extremely short suspense to get repairs done and they came through for me in a big way. They did ALL my repairs plus a couple extras that I throw at them. They were right on budget and even saved me some money on one project. Their team of workers were professional and respectful. They took every step possible to keep the worksite clean. They kept me informed and quickly completed the work necessary. I would definitely hire them again and give them my strongest recommendation for your repair or remodeling needs."

"On behalf of my 89-year-old mother, I recently commissioned L. E. Schwartz and Son, Inc. to re-roof her home built in the 1950’s. This project was a daunting mission for me, inasmuch as the Home Improvement Industry in today’s environment is fraught with unscrupulous contractors. It is refreshing to recognize and appreciate the following Schwartz traits: • Schwartz exudes professionalism and accountability. • Phone calls and email messages are answered in an expeditious manner. • Roof was installed in accordance with the predetermined schedule! • Quality of the roof is SUPERIOR. • Financing was facilitated with well-informed counseling. I wholeheartedly endorse L. E. Schwartz and Son, Inc. as a Home Improvement Roofing Contractor. GODSPEED! Brenda M. Gibson"

"<p>It took almost a month and a half after the original agreement for the roofing to start.  They were very busy because of the winter storm.  Once scheduled, they arrived on time and completed the job in a day and a half.  The cleanup was adequate but I did find quite a few roofing nails in yard over the next few weeks.  There was a problem on the first hard rain where my sunroom meets the rest of the house.  I had a leak which ran down an inside brick wall.  Called them and they came and fixed the problem within a few days before the next rain.  Have had no problems since.  Overall, I was very happy with my experience with their workers and sales team.  They gave the best quote and did what the agreement stated.</p> <br />"

"I had the best experience with this company! They were very responsive and got a rep out to my house to give me a quote very quickly. When I had a question, they were quick to email me back. I was also very impressed with the quick turn around. Within a week from getting the quote, I had a new roof. The work crew was very professional and did a great job cleaning up all the mess and making sure there were no lingering nails laying around the yard. The customer service from this company can not be matched and I would 100% recommend them to everyone."

"I cannot speak highly enough about Mr. Owens and his team. They did a fantastic job. The area in the ceiling that was patched is invisible, you would never know there had been a large hole (3'x3') there. The painting was excellent and fastidious. They cleaned up and moved all furniture back to the proper place. They were very prompt and communication was excellent. I would hire them again in a heartbeat."

"Leigh, and her husband, were great. Though my install took a bit longer than expected, due to the high volume time in which we ordered our gutters, they made every effort to accommodate. They got everything installed prior to the hurricanes, and even knocked a few hundred bucks off for our troubles. I would definitely hire, or recommend, these professional and kind folks to anyone, anytime."

"We had hail damage to our roof.  We contacted E-Z Roofing because of their reputation on Angie's List.  They responded quickly with an estimate and they interacted with our insurance company directly, making the process very smooth. They gave us plenty of choices of shingles, and they were very knowledgeable in answering our questions. <br /> When the time came to replace the roof, they were amazing.  Their crew worked tirelessly in extreme heat.  They were polite and professional and the job was done on time. They did a great job cleaning up as well. <br /> On a side note, one of the workers accidentally dropped a tape measure which ended up falling through the roof insulation and cracking the sheet rock on our ceiling. They took responsibility for it and it was completed repaired and repainted. <br /> Our experience with E-Z Roofing was outstanding.  We recommend them without hesitation. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in North Augusta, SC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
