"Excellent - Nick and his crew installed my patio in 2 days and within 2 weeks of my reaching out to him. They even used the extra dirt to grade my back yard (much needed) without my asking and without additional cost. They also were the lowest bid of the 3 that I got. I’ll 100% use Nick and his crew again."

"We have lived on Daniel Island, SC for over seven years and in that time, we have hired dozens of contractors for various projects and maintenance tasks. With a few exceptions our experiences have been generally positive but John Syrjala Jr. is far and away the best contractor we have ever worked with. The primary project was to replace a wooden staircase with a brick one. I was expecting that building a brick staircase would be significantly more expensive than a wood replacement but Mr. Syrjala’s bid was actually less than some of the wood-based bids. Without reservation I can say that Mr. Syrjala’s prices are very reasonable! Mr. Syrjala is an amazing, professional mason who works carefully and takes no shortcuts. The demolition of the old staircase was accomplished quickly, there was no mess and he carted away all the old material. He then dug and poured a cement footing, despite it being a relatively small area he used enough rebar to support a major structure. He found brick that was a perfect match to our 12-year-old home and did a beautiful job of building the stairs. During the two weeks he worked at our home there was never a time that there was any mess and he left the area around the project site looking better than before he started. The stairs look great! We also had Mr. Syrjala complete a hardscape project for us and construct some foundation piers, this work was done to the same high standards and at very reasonable cost. We recommend Mr. Syrjala without reservation, and are confident that you would have an equally positive experience."

"They were fast and efficient. The price was reasonable and offset the time frame they were able to do it in. The workers were polite and courteous and did a great job managing our dogs."

"We hired Stack's to expand our patio by 4' along approximately 30', using brick pavers. Stack's Landscape/Hardscape Designer, Anna, worked with us to design a beautiful layout. Her Hardscape/Landscape Crew showed up right on time every day of the project and did excellent work, paying attention to the smallest details. The quality of the job was outstanding, and we are very happy with the results. Anna stayed in touch with us through the planning phase and then every day of the project by email, text, or in person, making numerous visits to our home to ensure the things were going as planned and on time. Without reservation, we highly recommend Stack's for projects of this nature!"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in North Charleston, SC

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
