"He did an amazing job...almost looks like new (and this wasn't the first time I've had to have this area repaired). I was referred to Mr. Winfield by a friend in Palm Desert, CA around 2-3 years ago. He couldn't have had nicer things to say about Mr. Winfield, and he was right. I have gone back to Winfield Painting 3 or 4 times in the past years since I started using them. He is always on time (or early even) which I think is very very hard to find when looking for help in California. He is also incredibly fair with pricing, and this is the main reason I keep using him. I get incredibly random bids from workers (being that I have a large property that I maintain), so the fact that Winfield Painting does good work (and I can also trust that I am being given fair prices for the job) is a very big deal to me."

"Jeanette called from Tip Top builders and was very personable & professional to set up the appointment.  All seemed good.
On the day of my appointment, a young lady arrived and upon showing her the garden area in question, I advised I wanted some ideas to make the garden more drought tolerant.  She immediately suggested it be concreted in with a stamped pattern.  I was most surprised at this quick response and said that I definitely was not interested in concreting the entire space in.  She said "well what design do you want?"  I replied that's why I had purchased the design consultation, that I wanted some suggestions of ways to increase the curb appeal.  She told me she was not a designer, but oversaw hardscaping .. I said I wanted input on plants etc. She advised that once I was on board with the hardscaping that I could come to their offices to meet with the plant expert.

I expressed my concern that this meeting was misleading and that I was looking for an overall design consultation.  Ultimately I was making suggestions based on photos from Houzz.com to which, she took some note, but still kept coming back to stamped concrete.    At one time she suggested leveling out my slightly sloping front garden however, I pointed out that doing such a thing would expose the foundations and therefore was not a direction I wanted to consider.    I took a breath and agreed to consider a plan based on her suggestions, and was presented with a quick estimate for basic work (stamped concrete!!, some rocks, labor etc) close to $10,000 not including removing or replacement plants.  My garden area is approx 35 feet long by 8 feet wide.   I was promised a follow up proposal (I've emailed to follow up) but am still yet to receive.
Feel like this was a scam - and I completely wasted my money.  Really disappointed in this experience.

*** UPDATE - Tip Top contacted me following my initial review, to explain the "designer" was no longer with the company & to apologize profusely for the situation, asking for a second chance to consider the job and refund my initial Angie's List offer purchase amount.

A second representative [Tony] came out who was knowledgeable about drought tolerant landscapes and proposed ideas for layout & plants definitely more in line with the vision I had .   He is currently reviewing some city permit regulations to determine restrictions & costs for moving forward.   I'm awaiting further feedback.

RATING CHANGE
I would upgrade the rating to B+/A based on Tony's attitude & knowledge, in addition to Patty [in the Tip Top office] for follow up."

"There were 2 teams that came to the door, one for the deck and the other for the paver project, I explained the details and even showed them a somewhat blueprint of my dream deck and these guys were on point! ... The pavers were finished quick and my old deck was demolished, the wood was in pretty bad shape. The guys built it and refinished it with the waterproof stain I had chosen. I was amazed at their hard work. Maybe once or twice they ran late by coming in 15/20 min  late,  but they did a great job overall.
The pavers had a combo of cobble stone and river stone which led to the grassy area."

"

Meir and his team did a wonderful job!

our kid's bathroom was the last bathroom to be taken care of , in the last couple of months prior to the renovation we had some plumbing and water flow issues.

so we needed to take care of it ASAP!

our idea was to catch 2 birds with one stone to repair the plumbing issues and to give our kid a new bathroom/bathtub.

so once we agreed , we shopped around with our friends, we knew a good guy  but we wanted to try another company for this project.

so Meir the owner was introduced to us through a friend of a friend, we clicked almost immediately!

they were so polite and nice we knew we are in good hands, we know it's not a big project but they reassured us that they are handling any size of projects with the same attention as

we all set down with Meir and Rafi his partner and discussed what's needed , some idea's we had and some idea's Meir and Rafi shared from past projects.

by the second meeting we all agreed on all the details and the project begun a week later.

the

construction team was very courteous and respectful to our house, furniture and us!

they always made sure to contain the debris and remove each end of the day,

the project took about 3 weeks from top to bottom.

we are very happy with the result.

"They had to come back and redo it. The initial person who came out was not very professional. She was the salesperson as well as the provider and was always in a hurry to get somewhere and was kind of condescending. They were not very good communicators."

"My wife been asking me to update/remodel our master bedroom/bathroom for a long time, so when we decided to start the project it was an experience that we as a couple will never forget. We have contacted many construction companies trying to hire someone who will not only do what we asked them, but also suggest and provide different options our project. My wife and I are both in medical field, so we are not familiar with any construction/design remodeling/updating field. So when I say we were going into this project BLIND.... it was seriously that way. I was worried a lot about that I was going to get ripped off with prices, quality and everything that involves in general contractors work. In the beginning when we started to meet up with different construction companies, I was very disappointed and I thought my fears will come into reality about getting ripped off. At some point we wanted to cancel everything and just deal with our master bedroom/bathroom until later, until we do more research and not rush to find a contractor. So when I made my last appointment with Real Construction, my hopes were down and I wasn't expecting much. But to my surprise.... I  was wrong!!!!!   Real construction came into my house fully prepared to satisfy our needs. They have suggested so many amazing options to us that I was blown away. We narrowed down to 2 options and they gave us time to chose, and we finally decided on option #2: add second floor for master bedroom with walking closets and master bathroom plus Real Construction will design the whole project. My wife was super happy to say the least. Real Construction provided us with sketches, colored pictures, and samples of almost every product that will be used for us to get the real feel and picture... We knew exactly how our master bedroom/bathroom will look before they started their work. Real Construction friendly staff were very understanding of our needs, very patient with us on decision making, and most importantly very reasonable pricing and always went an extra mile to save our money and still have a beautiful project. When the work started, we were both very, very impressed with entire Real Construction crew. They were very professional, organized, prompt, respectful and considered. Everyday was done as planned, they were never late with supplies or labor. Every step of the way they included us and explained to us what was going on. For our master bedroom they used beautiful hardwood floors through out, with recess lightning in the bedroom/closets, amazing quality paint, great ceiling and moldings. The walk-in- closet done with both me and my wife in mind. Its very spacious, plenty of room, great arrangement of the shelves and space. Our master bathroom got some rare Spanish tile through out, comfortable his and her sinks, and a very spacious/romantic bathtub. The shower area was done in the most beautiful, convenient way with all upscale faucets, sinks, glass doors. Both bedroom and bathroom has plenty of storage area. The windows and doors are very upscale. The exterior of our second floor addition master bedroom/bathroom was just speechless, they did wood siding and let me tell you it looks amazing.  Real Construction is the greatest company out there, trust me on this one we shopped around.  They finished their project 2 days before it was planned. We now have the best master bedroom/ bathroom without breaking the bank and without losing our nervous. After the project was completed, Real Construction followed up with us for the next few weeks, to make sure everything is working properly and to make sure we were satisfied. Real Construction did above and beyond with their work. We are very happy and will recommend them to all of our families and friends. If u looking for detailed oriented, prompt, professional, creative, affordable, friendly, company to remodel/add/design/upscale your home... you will not be disappointed with them. Thank you Real construction for your great, outstanding work. We really appreciate it. I hope my review will help someone out there who needs contractors work."

"It went great!  James knew what to do and how to do it.  Any questions he had he called the manufacturer for answers.  He answered all of my questions and made recommendations.  Since his service call both fireplaces are working fine and we are enjoying them.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together.
