"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"We highly recommend Josh & Jacob and the rest of the Independent Mechanical team! They did a great job installing central AC into our home. The work was completed on time, despite the grueling July heat they encountered in our attic. They were very neat and respectful of our property and the cost was reasonable. It was a very good experience!"

"I have been helping my elderly parents who live in Milford. They had numerous plumbing problems that had not been addressed over many years. I called A-Team Plumbing and they amazed me!! They were friendly, quick to respond, and they did an EXCELLENT job. In the second floor bathroom, they discovered the problem was old iron drain pipe clogged by corrosion. They carefully removed the floor and installed PVC replacing the old pipe. Price was very reasonable. They then installed a new toilet in the half-bathroom on the first floor, replaced the galvanized pipes under the kitchen floor, and tied the deep sink in the laundry room into the sewer (previously draining into a dry well). The crew was friendly, polite, and VERY hard workers. They are the only plumbers I would hire. Excellent job A-Team!"

"Connected with Tom on Friday evening via search through Angi, regarding a shower valve that was constantly running water. After asking a few questions, he pretty much diagnosed the issue and assured me he would be out Saturday morning. He even went as far as to explain what his visit would entail and also provided us with an approximate repair cost. Saturday morning, Tom arrived earlier than stated (which is great), due to our conversation on Friday, he came with the part (as he requested pics) and had the job completed quickly. Compliments to Tom for being very thorough, understanding and compassionate as I asked quite a few questions. Will contact again for other projects."

"I have no way of removing the F review we made for this company. They have called twice to advise that they were never notified by Angie's List of my request. This is not the first time this seems to have happened. As well, there seems to be no way of removing a review. As a business owner myself, I am leaving Angies List as it does not seem to be maintaining its service adequately ."

"Peteys Plumbing removed our old oil fired hot water heater and installed a new tankless propane hot water heater today. Petey and his helper were very professional, knowledgeable, and efficient during the installation. Petey’s Plumbing offered the best quote for the job and also were able to remove our old tank without cutting a hole in the wall, saving us a lot of time, aggravation, and money. Other plumbers refused to consider this option. I wholeheartedly endorse Peteys Plumbing for anyone looking for a plumber in the area."

"Rousseau did an excellent job! They were very understanding that my husband wanted to be part of the process and we only wanted them to this part of the remodel. This was the first plumber that was willing to work with us and not "take over" the remodel. We will definitely use them again for the next part of the remodel! <br />"

"We contacted several gas plumbers for quotes for bringing gas into the house and switching out our oil boiler and water heater.  Hurlburt's Plumbing had the best price and we trusted them the most.  We never felt like were being up-sold or and we truly appreciated Al's approach to helping us decide what we needed (and what we didn't).  Since we were brand new first-time homeowners at the time we were very nervous about being taken advantage of and we were pleasantly surprised with how painless it was to get our new systems installed and stay within our budget.  The first winter when we turned the heat on it didn't work - Al came out that night and fixed it right up for no charge (our model of boiler had just switched to an "energy saving" part that caused the pilot to go out.  Al switched out the small piece with a better one and it took all of 5 minutes).  We've had our system for almost 3 years now and we are happy customers. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Northford, CT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
