"While on Vacation I contacted Sal Manzo because new countertop were getting installed a few days after I returned home. I was able still send Sal pictures and he was able to confirm my slow drain was due to incorrect drain install by another contractor. He scheduled Mike Manzo to be there the day after I returned and he correctly replaced pipe to code. Thanks to Sal and Mike for responding so quickly and fixing the issue so the countertop can get installed. this allowed the rest of kitchen installation to complete on time and on schedule. Mike was punctual, meticulous, clean and professional. the cost was high but was worth the peace of mind and quality of work. Mike had also installed a gas line/pipe for new gas stove in March. It was done to code and was a fair price. Will always call Sal Manzo for may of my plumbing needs"

"Mark is a very responsive contractor. Any time I called and needed to speak to him he would answer or would call back within 30 minutes. His workers work CLEAN. I have seen interior concrete performed where concrete dust would be on every floor of the house, not ACM. They basically sealed off half of the basement with a plastic wall and ventilated the work area out one of my basement windows. The men worked clean and efficiently. They even finished the project 1 day earlier than expected. We had a footing drain and the easy breathe system installed."

"Just had this done in Feb 2019. Turns out vendor who I used then didn't clean any of the solid waste from cesspool . He only drained fluids. Had same overflow problem again this weekend and was pretty mad. Call Mid Suffolk and was greeted very professionally and kindly on phone by Christine on Saturday night Sept 14th 2019. Was told her husband Bob would show up Sunday morning. He did at 11am and provided much need excellent service and advice. Completely serviced both pools for a reasonable price. Was neat and would call again without any second thought."

"They did an excellent job. KTG were the first to reach out when I submitted my project request. They arrived earlier than scheduled. They completed a walkthrough and listened to my concerns. I loved the cleaning products they used, the apartment smelled great. I would use their services again and recommend to friends. They are reliable and professional. Thanks again!"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Northport, NY

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
