"I signed a contract with this company in Aug 2024 & paid a deposit of $9,905 mid-Sept. I got renderings based on a design I provided, but none depicted all the details discussed & approved. By Dec 2024, I was pressing for a start date. However, my cabinets were never purchased. I was told there was a cost discrepancy & I would need to pay another $4K before they would order them. I challenged this since I had already purchased the sink, faucet, and hardware the contractor was supposed to supply. Nothing ever happened, and Nate (project manager) stopped responding. In Jan 2025, I requested a contract cancellation & deposit refund. I was offered a partial refund contingent upon my signing a statement that the cancellation was based on mutual agreement, willingly, and without coercion. I filed a complaint with the FL DPBR since their conduct violated FL Statute §489.126. I also hired an attorney to get my money back from this company. Their business practices are very shady. BEWARE!"

We knew that walls and drop ceiling had to be removed making the lanai part of the main living area. After much research, we contacted S&W Kitchens of Tampa and met with Lacie Rice. Lacie was a delight to work with. She was knowledgeable about the process and very attentive to our needs. Her ideas and design expertise created an awesome floor plan and a fabulous kitchen. Joe was a perfectionist with the installation of our beautiful kitchen cabinets topped with crown moldings. A large island was created with a space for a beverage fridge that my wife and Lacie talked me into, and they were right :). Converting a garage is worth it because it can significantly increase your home's value while providing additional living space for your family or guests. Meeting these standards allows the converted space to be included in your home's total square footage, potentially increasing its value.
In most cases, you do not need to hire an architect for a garage conversion. An experienced garage conversion contractor usually has the skills to help create your desired design and ensure the project meets building codes. However, if your conversion involves complex structural changes or a large-scale redesign, hiring an architect can be beneficial. An architect can provide detailed plans and oversee the design to maximize space and functionality, ensuring the conversion aligns with your vision and complies with all regulations.
