"The owners are very professional and easy to work with. They were on time and completed the project in the time frame they provided us. They refaced the cabinets in our kitchen and both bathrooms and we are very satisfied with the work they did."

"Summary: The entire experience was excellent. Good communication throughout the process, and they did exactly what they said. They did the demolition on the cabinets, countertop, and backsplash, refaced some existing cabinets, and added a lot of custom cabinetry, along with a quartz countertop. The price was under 1/2 of what several other companies quoted. Price: They charged us under half of what some other companies quoted. However, it's not quite apples to apples, because those other companies folded in everything (plumbing, electrical, etc). I did some prep work myself to demo the existing island, and arranged the plumber and electrician myself. I ended up saving over $20k all told. What they do: They removed existing cabinets based on our contract, removed the existing tile backsplash and repaired the dry wall so that it was "tile ready". They installed custom cabinets (much higher quality than the existing boxes), faced all the cabinets to make the transitions from older boxes to new ones undetectable, added the new island and countertop. They replaced all doors with soft close hinges, and all of the new drawers also have soft close slides. The new cabinetry is very well made, real wood boxes, and high quality materials. What I did: before they came out, I took out the existing island. I also arranged for plumbing and electrical, as needed, and repaired the floor around the new island. After they left, I tiled the backsplash, installed the open shelving, and put soft close drawer slides in the old drawers to match the new ones. Timeline: Once we put down our deposit, we waited just about 5 months, which was a bummer. But once they started, they were true to their word and were done within 8 days. Results: We ended up with a really nice kitchen. The layout makes a lot more sense, and we essentially doubled the amount of usable counterspace. The cabinets and drawers are all soft close, and while we did put in some open shelves, we ended up netting about the same amount of cabinet storage with the addition of the new lowers along the wall and the much larger island. Other odd notes: We have two cats and two giant dogs, and needed access to the kitchen space during the remodel. They were really good about keeping doors closed and keeping the area tidy at the end of each work day. We planned to not use the kitchen during the remodel, but they did indicate that they would work with us if we had to."

"Ian did a very good job on our cabinets. He removed the drawer faces to have these stained at his location while he completed staining the frames on premises. We like the final outcome and like the way our cabinets look at the end. He provided good recommendations on colors. Ian is very flexible & can adapt to you needs. We had a flooring person working at the same time and needed to extend his start date. Ian was able to adapt and was able to work around the change. He showed up on time and completed all the work as per the schedule. Overall, I am very pleased with his work. Highly recommended."

"Jim was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We had a kitchen designer lay out our cabinets, but he was able to refine and finalize the plans to make them a reality. Jim was very responsive and always on time with pricing, meetings, and installation. The cabinet products are very high quality and exactly what we expected. Installation took two days and was completed on time. We love our new cabinets!"

"I called the company and described the furniture I wanted to have refinished. The price they quoted for the service was too high. I am not prepared to pay an additional $1,800 for this."

"The new granite countertops are beautiful, even more so than we'd hoped.  This is an excellent product, installed by a remarkable local franchise, the Mukilteo franchise of Granite Transformations. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />As good as the product itself happens to be, the customer service of this office is even better.  Our project evolved from one in which we'd intended to have the new countertops installed over the old ones to a much larger project in which entirely new cabinets were installed in the kitchen with a new underlayment for the Granite Transformations product.  Because the leak under the kitchen floor which forced us to consider the whole kitchen project was far more extensive than anticipated, we had to have all of the old cabinets removed to allow the floor to be repaired.  That led to the decision to replace the old cabinets, rather than try to re-install them.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Even though one of the major selling points of Granite Transformations is that the product can be installed over existing countertops, we chose to stick with GT on our entirely new cabinets because of the strength of the product and the lower maintenance demands compared to slab granite.  We have learned that we are far from alone in choosing GT for installation on new cabinets.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The change in our plans to remodel the kitchen rather than simply do a cosmetic upgrade demonstrated the superb customer service focus of this office.  Even though they had scheduled the original installation and had booked the dates, they demonstrated a degree of flexibility for which we will be forever grateful in amiably working with us on short notice to reschedule to about six weeks later when the new cabinets had been installed and were ready for the lovely granite countertops. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The quality of the work, from the design expertise of the initial consultation, to the extreme precision of the creation of the template for the cutting of the stone, to the meticulous attention to detail in the final installation, was of the highest order.  Folks, this ain't your Big Box store approach to a project by any means! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> We would recommend this great local company without reservation, both for their product and for their expertise and customer focus. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Oak Harbor, WA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
