"Holy Cow, my wife loves EGCL I will make this short. I had two small projects I wanted constructed at my home. A 10’x12’ slab poured and a two-foot high retaining wall. I called nine contractors and three came to look at the proposed work site. Two gave me estimates for the work. The one bid was four times more than the other. ECLG Inc was the contractor chosen. The owner, Elias, met me at my home to look at the job site. We spoke about the work, he made positive helpful suggestions and we worked out a calendar and payment schedule as well as start up date. I chose EGCL not because of the low bid, but for other reasons. Elias responded quickly to my estimate request. No sitting on hold on the phone. I didn’t have wait two days before he called me back, He didn’t tell me the job was too small or make me feel I wasn’t important. When Elias met at our home he had photos of his other work. He also had a valid contractor license, all required insurances and understood the need for start and end construction dates. When he left, we knew we had someone who would and could do the work we expected. EGCL exceeded our expectations. Construction took less than three days. Elias, the owner, and work crews showed up when promised. The three masons doing the work were polite, pleasant and worked like proverbial beavers. They knew what they were doing, were non-intrusive and the most tidy guys I have ever seen work. The wife said they were fastidious. They took the initiative when necessary and solved small problems as encountered. Upon completion, they left the site sparkling. Now as to why I hate these guys and my wife loves them. They made everything look easy, worked very quickly, didn’t lounge around and did a fantastic job, plus they cleaned up the site as well as my messes! "We had a "garden" style 4" thick slumpstone block wall across our backyard at our Simi Valley home that had shifted on it's foundation, and was leaning outward away from our property. A neighbor that shares the wall with us got 4 quotes from local wall contractors. After the contractor we chose to do the work backed out due to a family problem, I searched for a new wall contractor, as I didn't like the other 3 bids. I am extremely happy that I found Robert Palacios Masonry. When Bob came the very next day to view the wall and give us a quote, I knew right away that Bob was the right person to rebuild our wall. None of the other 4 contractors knew what type of wall we had, nor what was the best way to restore it. Only Bob recognized right away that we had a "Proto II" wall, which is a light weight, quickly built wall that is built without rebar, and instead held together in a "post-tension" manner using threaded rods, and only mortar between the blocks. Bob told me this type of wall should not have been built on a slope grade, nor had any dirt or trees up against it. A previous owner had put in a 2' tall planter box with trees. Bad idea by them! Bob rebuilt the lower portion of the wall using 8" wide blocks, making it a true retaining wall that extends just above the planter. This saved us from having to demolish and remove our stone planter box. He epoxied in rebar posts on 24" centers inside the 8" blocks, and filled all of them with mortar cement. The top portion was rebuilt using the 4" wide blocks that his crew carefully saved when the wall was dismantled. This made the newly rebuilt top portion blend into the surrounding walls, so it didn't have a "new wall" look that unpleasantly stuck out. We also had a portion of our side wall rebuilt at the same time, and in the same manner I just described. Both look great, and as if they are the original walls. Bob and his crew are top notch professionals that were on time, clean, courteous to our adjacent neighbors, and did the job exactly as agreed upon in the time quoted, and at the price stated. No ups and extras. You could not find a better wall construction, rebuild, and repair company than Robert Palacios Masonry. Would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Bob!"
