Customers say: Quick response

"Disappointed and Giving up. Contracted with Eland to put a pond in our backyard in 2021. After the pond got done, there were issues with the dam sloughing off. They came back a couple times to fix the issue. Then the pond was seeping out. Came back a couple times to fix that issue. At one point, one of the operators said, I remember hitting a sand vain in that area. Why wasnâ t it fixed properly at that point? Well, the dam is still sloughing off and thereâ s still a small seep. Every time they came to do repairs, they have left the area in worse shape. The dam was built too steep and they left tree roots and logs in the dam. This will become a problem in a few years. The area around the pond has root wads left laying around. This is why Iâ m disappointed and have given up on Spittler Excavation to repair my pond. This is not a farm pond, itâ s literally my backyard."

"Miller Construction Group did an outstanding job on our stamped concrete patio. From the initial planning to the final finish, everything was handled professionally and with great attention to detail. The craftsmanship is top-tier?the pattern, color, and overall finish came out even better than we expected. The crew was on time, organized, and kept the jobsite clean. The project was completed on schedule, and the results completely transformed our outdoor space. If you?re looking for high-quality concrete work done right, I highly recommend Miller Construction Group."

"Our basement drains were backing up when we ran the washing machine, and Mid-state came out to clean our drains. They initially forgot about our appointment, but came soon after we called to remind them. They were here about an hour and cleared a large clump of roots from our pipes, resolving the issue. The cost was $175, which I thought was reasonable."

FAQs for excavation major grading or resloping projects in Ogden, IL

You can excavate in winter, but frozen soil slows down the process and increases labor costs. Many grading companies offer discounted rates during their off-season, so ask for a winter quote and weigh the savings against a longer timeline. A brief conversation with a local professional will help determine whether cold-weather excavation is suitable for your site.

Foundation digs can be completed in as little as three days or take up to three weeks. Soil density, access, weather, and hidden obstacles all play a role, so every timeline is a bit different. Have your contractor walk the site and flag any potential issues early—clear expectations help keep both the schedule and budget on track.

You must always call 811 before excavating. Dial 811 a few days in advance so that utility crews can mark underground lines and ensure the area is safe for digging. Hitting a buried cable or gas pipe can be both dangerous and expensive, and many municipalities will not issue permits unless the site is flagged correctly.

To remove soil during an excavation project, your crew will load the spoil into dump trucks with a backhoe or excavator, haul it to a disposal site, and return for the next load. Efficient hauling keeps the work zone clear and the project moving. Depending on the site and volume of osil, multiple trucks may rotate to maintain a steady flow.
