"The technician gave us repair versus replacement options that were fair. We decided on replacement. I felt like the communication between the technician and the company that ordered the door was not great -- it took a bit longer than it might have. Also - we were initially charged for that first service call, but Meticulous adjusted the charge after I pointed that out. But on the day of installation, the work was well done and completed in a timely manner."

"Rapid Roofing did a phenomenal job on our roof. They were quick and professional. The job in its entirety took just 3 days. That included the tear off, removal of the swamp cooler, and the put back . The owner, Gary Peterson, kept us up to date with scheduling and checked in on the project each day. There were no hidden costs or surprises at the end of the project. Gary was upfront with each step of the process. I would recommend Rapid Roofing to anyone needing their roof repaired or replaced."

"Dave Wright is extremely knowledgeable about a wide variety of things in and around the house. We plan to use his services further to complete several projects around the house that have been sitting unfinished and/or in need of repair for eons. There is a waiting list, but that is to be expected when you want the best!"

"It went very well only when it rained it leaked. We notified Aspen roofing and the supervisor came in two days, apologized explained in detail what should have been done and had the repair both on the roof and in the house done as well. We were so pleased with Chris and his crew that we recommend the company to both residential and commercial entities!"

"My roof was 19 years old but was deteriorating. This was probably due to the fact it was roofed over the previous shingles which were now 34 years old. I was hoping to get another year or two before a complete replacement, but I had a leak in the garage. I talked to Phil at Horizons and got an estimate for a complete re-roof and then contacted him back for just the leak repair. I sent photos and he sent a repair contract for $495 which I signed on Aug. 20, 2017. An employee from Horizon came on September 1, 2017, to repair the roof. He brought his dog and mountain bike and said he was on his way to Montana for a trip. While the dog was tied in my front yard, he began working. He asked me if I had shingles. I went into the attic of the garage and found some 19-year-old shingles from the previous roof job. He spent about 3 hours removing the old shingles and repairing some plywood and using the shingles I provided. He caulked some around the area. Not long after the repair, there was a moderate rainstorm. This was a good test for the repair. Unfortunately, the leak was worse than it was before the repair. I contacted Phil with the news and more photos. He said he was surprised and suggested that the leak was caused by overflowing rain gutters - which was not the case. The same Horizon employee came by again. He had his dog again and a friend with him and said he was on his way to an event. He was not in a good mood. I had a hose on the roof so we could do a water test to try to isolate where the water was coming in. He didn't like that idea and we didn't do any water testing. He said the roof needed to be replaced because the water could be leaking in from anywhere. Then he slapped down a bunch of caulking between some of the shingles. Then he said he only bought one tube of caulk and asked if I had caulk. So, I went into the garage and found a tube of caulk. He continued to caulk. He spent about 20 minutes or so and left. The next day, I went up to do a water test by running water over the section. The leak was just as bad inside the garage. I contacted Phil again and he emailed back that he was out of town and we can address it again when he returned. I decided at that point, to look at other options. The three stars reflect the communications I had with Phil and their attempts at repair. The deduction of two stars reflects a rather negative experience with the repair employee, having to provide the shingles and the caulking for the repair, and having to pay $495 for a leak repair that was never actually repaired. In fairness, I'm sure Phil WOULD HAVE continued to try to repair the leak if I would have kept insisting. But after the second failure and after I talked to him when he was out of town, I didn't call or email him back and he never contacted me again even though he knew the leak was not repaired. I figured they were hoping I'd just go away - which I did."

"Bob Harvey Roofing did an excellent job. John headed up our job, but the entire crew was, very respectful, friendly and professional. They did a great job of cleaning up after the work was done. They communicated with me each day so I knew what was going on with my job. It is so awesome to see this kind of integrity in a company today, Pam Taylor"

"Had been recommended by my boss, and when I checked Angie's List they got good reviews. Between those things and the fact that their estimate was cheaper than I was expecting, I went with them without getting additional quotes. <br /> I know my review will be the only one without straight A's so I do want to talk about what I liked about them. Communication was good. They seemed to be fair and honest. My roof isn't in the best shape, but they didn't try to sell me on a new roof. They told me I had about 5 years left in my roof, and that's exactly what I figured. I asked for a quote for rain gutters, and Norm immediately got out a tape measure and gave me an estimate for what I said was most important. And they made an effort to come patch the holes before a rain storm was set to come in. <br /> However, the quality wasn't the greatest. They had told me in the quote that matching the green shingles wasn't possible, so they'd have to use white. Okay, neither patch will be very visible, and I only have to deal with it for 5 years before I get a new roof. But the patches are clearly lower than the rest of the roof. Probably not enough to pool water, but still, pretty noticeable. And secondly, I picked up over a dozen nails on the sidewalk near my driveway. My driveway is rock fill, so nails hide really well in there. I'll have to go over it with my magnetic nail sweep before I'm comfortable driving all the way up to my garage. <br /> Those are my only quibbles. Other than that, they're probably great. Maybe patching isn't their thing; maybe they're really great at ripping and replacing roofs. But I don't think they'll be on my short list to call once I need a new roof. <br />"

"The repairs were done in a quality manner.  In addition to that, they actually got on the highest point of the roof to check an area we were not sure was also damaged or not.  There was no damage, but they actually made some cosmetic repairs to our furnace stove pipes all on their own accord.  We were just blown away and they look great.  If I ever need roofing, these will be who we will use. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Ogden, UT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
