"This company is top-notch! As a single woman, I got a bunch of quotes for my patio that were way overpriced for lower quality concrete, and I felt like I was being taken for a ride. Then Mr. Hernandez came into my backyard and explained the importance of concrete PSI and other key details I needed to know. He gave me a fair quote for 4000 PSI with fiberglass, and I absolutely adore him and his team. If you're looking for a professional job done right with quality, he's the one to call. I absolutely love my new backyard because of them. Its sturdy, neat, and so pretty."

"““I’ve hired this concrete company for several projects over the past few years, including a driveway, patio, and some repair work. Every time, they’ve delivered excellent results. The quality of their work is top-notch, and everything has held up really well. They’re reliable, show up when they say they will, and communicate clearly throughout the process. I also appreciate how clean they keep the job site. What really stands out is the consistency—no matter the size of the job, they always do a great job. I highly recommend them to anyone needing concrete work.”"

"I have a lot of flower/shrub bedding. The price breaks down to about 7 dollars a foot. This is a little more than some other companies charge, but the quality of the Curbing Edge, is top notch. They install rebar into the curb to protect from cracking and they color the concrete all the way through, so that any nicks that may happen while mowing, etc. will not show. They were on time and were very professional. They started around 7:30 and had all of the 600 feet finished by 3:00 that afternoon. They were super nice and I would not hesistate to use them again. <br />"

"Mike was excellent and is a fantastic concrete man. He responded immediately and started the job in about 3 weeks. He placed gravel, rebar, control joints and expansion board as agreed. I asked the concrete to be a minimum of 5 inches thick, much of it was 6 to 7 inches thick. After being jerked around by other contractors, some of them on Angies list it was a pleasure to work with Mike. He also placed a warranty on his work"

"Very efficient & job well done. Punctual. I wanted Harelequin (Diamond shape) and brick style along with an accent band. My handy husband laid the pebble on floor & niche and bedpan. Husband did have all materials on hand & installed all hardiboard, hardware & glass door. Daniel did cut & place tile at entrance, 3 wall, bench & short wall (depth of bench). Daniel also grout entire shower."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Hermitage, TN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
