"Tim was very friendly and explained everything in detail and gave me several options to fix my problem with my toilets. Once we made the decision on the pest plan of action, Tim explained the installation, price and gave me a time frame as to when the job would be complete. Robby did the install of all the toilets. He was fast, clean and very friendly."

"With a job this size, I was very nervous how it would go. I must say, it was seamless. Jeff had come out a few times before the actual work was going to be done just to make sure we were on the same page with what work would be performed. I had a written estimate of exactly how much the work would cost and how many days would be required. For the inside work, they did a very nice job of getting the old pipe out (without damaging any of the basement foundation wall). They rerouted some lines to allow for better flow/space in our basement. They cleaned up everyday when they left - there was NO trash left at the end of each day. The guys who were inside the house were here for 3 days - they were all very professional and nice. The guys doing the outside work also did a very nice job. I knew that it was going to be a big, messy job. Many aspects of replacing our lines were more difficult due to having to manage a sidewalk in the front, gravel driveway on the side and a creek in the back. The individual who worked the backhoe did an amazing job of working around the sidewalk with no cracking. He also did a nice job of working with the pipe under our creek and then "putting the creek back together". I really feel like the guys at Benjamin Franklin know their stuff and this crew had been doing this for awhile. While of course the yards had been disturbed with all of the work, the crew did a nice job of covering it with seed and straw as promised. At the end of the job, Jeff came back to inspect and review all the work done to make sure everything was perfect. I could not say enough good things about the people that work for this company. The whole process was great."

"Tyler did a wonderful job replacing water line , prv, and new shut off. He explained what he did and why he did it. Now waterline to house is up to codes. He also left me the extra straw and several feet of pecs line that I can use on other projects. Would recommend 615 plumbing , would use them again"

"They did a good job and the workers were great the only issue i have is they didnt install a water shut off even though i had one in the old system and i wasn’t told the price i was given to do the job didnt include one until the end of the job i would have paid extra for it i had to change a water filter since the job was done and i have to go to the street to turn off the water if i have a busted line in winter and the box is covered in ice and snow how will i get the water off this is my only gripe about the work no full disclosure i was in a rush to get it fixed it was leaking bad they should disclosed that when the estimate was done its made me rethink using them in the future"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Old Hickory, TN

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
