"Matthew was very quick to get back to me and get the job done right. I had a leaking toilet that was not seated correctly so it ruined the floor beneath. I had this issue fixed 3 times before. Matthew came out and replaced the flooring underneath it and now it sits correctly on the floor and no longer leaks. I would definitely have them come back if I had any other plumbing problems"

"After going through the long process of funding using Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority Jack Cawley was ready to go. He said it would take about a week to install 2-furnaces, 2-heat pumps and a hot water heater. After interviewing 5 other contractors and listening to their stories I found that hard to believe. But to my great surprise, it took just 6.5 working days for his team to complete the work. <br />     They were amazingly professional and probably the most technically competent of all the contractors I interviewed. Many of the other contractors left me wondering about how well they'd perform, but after the first interview with Jack, I was sold on his abilities. Jack is presently the President of the State of Connecticut Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association and teaches plumbing classes. <br />     The team arrived promptly at 8AM every morning and went straight to work. The job supervisor would report to either me or my wife (whoever was available) exactly what he intended to accomplish that day and then at the end of the day, he'd go over everything they did. They were incredibly clean! There was NEVER a mess left behind at the end of any day and all of their work was neat and orderly. Everyday, the company owner, Jack Cawley would stop by and ask if we had any problems, questions and if we were satisfied with the progress. You will not find that kind of professionalism anywhere around Norwich. <br />     One of Jack's subcontractors was Burnside Plumbing who specialized in HVAC Heat Pumps. The owner of Burnside Plumbing is Andrew Ladd. As many reviews about him will say, he is honest to a fault. He will not stop until the job is perfect and he will never take any shortcuts. If the hardest way is the best way, that's the course he'll take. He'll return to show you how to operate the system and by the time he has completed his work, you'll feel that he should have charged you more. I can't say enough good things about him and his team. <br />     If you choose Jack Cawley and/or Burnside Plumbing for any work, I guarantee, you WILL NOT be disappointed. I highly recommend this team and would use their services again, in a heart-beat. <br />"

"We highly recommend Josh & Jacob and the rest of the Independent Mechanical team! They did a great job installing central AC into our home. The work was completed on time, despite the grueling July heat they encountered in our attic. They were very neat and respectful of our property and the cost was reasonable. It was a very good experience!"

"Greg and his crew bend over backwards to accommodate your plumbing needs and you couldn't ask for a more pleasant group of people to deal with. We recently moved an upstairs bathroom to make room for a new bedroom. The workers (not Greg's) that tore out the old bathroom broke a drain pipe that went unnoticed until Greg and his main man Chris tested the new bath's bathtub drain and discovered water pouring out of the chandelier in our dining room. This happened around the normal quitting time and we fully expected them to call it a day (they had been working since early morning) and come back in the morning to find and fix the leak. Well, that's just not in their nature. Within minutes, they had figured out where the break was (nowhere near the chandelier), cut a hole in the ceiling to drain the water into buckets (rather than letting it continue to run across the dining room ceiling and ruin it), dried up the mess, and began the task of replacing the broken section of pipe. Never once did they complain or try to place the blame for the leak on the culprits that actually broke the pipe. They just had a job to do and they did it, wrapping up at about 10:00 pm! This is the kind of dedication and professionalism that you want, but don't always find, in a service provider. It is just one example, but is typical of all the jobs that Greg has done for us. I could go on, but you get the idea. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Old Lyme, CT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
