"He knows his work. He was the only one who suggested a separate pad for the hot tub not an add on to existing concrete. His workers did a great job on the pads. He just needs to communicate with his customer a little better."

Small jobs welcome

"My review is in two parts. CP&I, run by John Polvino, is the perfect way to get a contractor for cement work. I "signed" my contract for a completely new sidewalk along the whole front of my property the day before WNY went into the "Pause." John did an excellent job of communicating with me throughout the work stoppage and I was very glad that I kept my down payment in place rather than pulling the money out and taking a wait and see approach. John sent out an e-mail to all his customers at least every two weeks. Both during the pause and after it ended, any time I had a question I could just e-mail or call John and he would get back to me in just a couple of hours if not sooner. My actual sidewalk was installed within the first 3 weeks of construction workers being able to go back to doing residential work. The work was done by "Empire Services" and I can't recommend them highly enough. The company is owned and run by Anthony(not sure of last name) and he is a perfectionist when it comes to the job his crew does. My sidewalk has been a problem for decades because I have a larger than average driveway and the original side of it was poured in 1961 and the second portion was poured in the mid 1970s and is slightly higher than the original. Because the sidewalk was from 1961 as well the "newer portion" of the driveway was higher than the sidewalk causing water to get trapped and form ice in the winter. Anthony and one of his workers named Dennis took the time to figure out a solution. Four hours ago there was a big thunderstorm with torrential rain at my house. Two hours after the rain stopped there wasn't any water laying in the concrete at my house. I would rate the actual new concrete pour a 10+. In closing I would highly recommend CP&I and also recommend asking for "Empire Services." My actual concrete pour was done by Smokey(sic), Dennis, and Matt. If I were you I would ask for the 3 of them, they did an incredible job at my house."

"Hire them! 600 square feet garage floor & driveway. The concrete looks amazing, great price, professional and down to earth. My project came with challenges. They went way above to make sure everything was perfect. To the point, they took a section of the driveway out and poured it again, said he didn't like the way it was drying. It was all Chinese to me, I would have never known anything was wrong. That spoke honesty and good people. Can't wait until springtime..new patio"

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Orchard Park, NY

Whether terrazzo is better than porcelain or ceramic tiles for a kitchen or bathroom floor depends on your design preference. Terrazzo can last a long time, but so can a properly installed ceramic tile floor. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the lifespan of a ceramic tile floor is 75 to 100 years, similar to terrazzo.

You should clean terrazzo floors like you would marble, even if there’s no marble in the aggregate. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the polished surface, and steer clear of acidic cleaners like vinegar, which can damage the surface. Instead, use plain water or a neutral cleaner to mop the floor. Then, use a wet vac or squeegee to remove the dirty water. Regular buffing with a soft cloth can help you maintain the shine.

Terrazzo is made by mixing an aggregate like glass or stone with a binder like cement or epoxy. The mix is made and poured into the prepared space you designate. Alternatively, you can purchase prefabricated terrazzo tiles, which consist of similar materials. They’re poured into a mold and cured before installation.

You can add radiant heating under a terrazzo floor, which is an excellent way to combat the naturally cold surface of terrazzo floors. Installing radiant heating costs $1,653 to $6,656. You'll want to install the heating elements under the thin-set epoxy because the layer is thin enough for the warmth to conduct through the floor.

Making your own terrazzo can be a tricky DIY project. The exact mix takes a blend of art and skill to create and requires the expertise of a terrazzo pro. The wrong blend could crack, peel, or break easily, requiring expensive repairs. Finishing and polishing the floor also requires previous experience to achieve a professional appearance. Expect to pay between $200 and $2,500 for the cost of restoring and polishing floors.

Terrazzo flooring is eco-friendly because it is crafted using recycled materials such as glass, marble, and polished metal, and its epoxy binder emits no VOCs once cured. This sustainable manufacturing approach minimizes waste and supports green building practices. Homeowners gain an attractive flooring option, contributing to healthier indoor air quality and environmental conservation.
