"The plumber broke the valve on my water heater while just doing regular maintenance, he told me he wouldn’t charge me to replace/fix it and he still charged me! I was also charged a service fee and a labor fee! I wish the fees would have been explained before I invited them into my home."

"Leo Gardner. HVAC technician, was very personable and professional. He performed the yearly maintenance check on our furnace He also investigated and solved a problem of the furnace shutting off periodically in cold weather. Leo explained the issue and the possible solutions. In addition he installed a smart thermostat to further prevent the occasional furnace shut offs. Leo presented very understandable explanations of the furnace problem and very understandable instructions for the smart thermostat. Leo also left his business card so we could contact him again if we had difficulty programing the smart thermostat. It was a pleasure working with Leo. We highly recommend Leo and the Korte company."

"The employees did an immaculate job. Joe Bear did amazing work and installed everything to the specs I wanted. Contractors cleaned up after themselves, there was no dirt or grime left around the work area nor carpet in the house, wouldn't even know they were there!"

"What a terrible experience! One of my dear friends who is a contractor recommended these guys having worked with them, so I though I could trust them. They snaked my kitchen sink last winter, and I appreciated everything about it. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, I called to have my tub snaked, have the tub drain trip lever and stopper replaced, and have my outdoor spigot changed. The worker, Rick, I think, spent about 3 three hours on things, and then called me saying he didn't have the right size snake. He suggested I get some Draino to pour in, fill up the tub, let it sit for an hour, and then let the water flush the pipes. Not what you want to hear after a 225 dollar hour and a half of work, but I was still trusting at this point. I did what he asked, and low-and-behold, the water had drained 15 minutes after I stopped it while the stopper was still engaged. Next shower, I was still standing in an inch of water. And dammit, I had to finish screwing in one screw on the new spigot. I called the office, and Rick contacted me the next business day. He said he'd try to get out that day and would call me back. He never did. I called him once, I took a video of the water going down the "stopped" drain and texted it to him, and I never heard from him. Wow. When I got a 500 dollar bill, I called and left a frustrated voicemail on the company phone asking what the heck was going on. Austin, the owner's son, called me the next day and was apologetic. He took ownership of the mess up, told me that they don't snake anymore and referred me to A1 Sewer (which did a great job!). He also told me to disregard the bill. I appreciated that. When you ugly f**k up, you fix the mistake and try and make it look pretty again. Fast forward a week later, I get another bill that was for 200 and change wanting me to pay for the spigot parts and labor. It was technically fair, but at this point, I had already had A1 Sewer come out, tell me my pipes were simple and that I could do it myself next time with a cheapo snake from the store, and adjusted the drain stopper so it actually worked, all in 1 hour's time. I did my confused-Scooby headshake, and gave Mr. Plumber a call back, explaining that Austin had told me to disregard the bill and that I saw the bill was technically fair but was told to disregard the bill completely and needed some clarification. I explained everything A1 Sewer said, intimating that at this point I felt I was being taken advantage of. I got another call from Austin. He told me to disregard the second bill, apologized, told me he was livid with Rick and that this isn't how they do business. I asked specifically again if I needed to pay the second bill, and he said no. I thanked him for both making it right and trying to make it pretty again. This is how I treated people when I ran my business, and I'm always grateful when I see it. Well, here we are today. While at work, I get a phone call from a secretary who tells me that I owe for the bill still. This new guidance was from Austin's dad, the owner. Austin apparently didn't understand that the spigot work was done and that I still owed for that. I think Austin did understand, and while he's a better man than his father, he's still wasn't good enough to call me himself. As I said before, the bill is technically fair, so I'll pay it. But maybe you, the reader, can decide if the company is fair and if you want to interact with them. I do not think they are. I did not treat people this way. Austin's dad, if you decide to be holistically fair, I'll remove these reviews. Otherwise, we can both pay for the cost of your business practice while disagreeing about its value."

"ay from Evenflow Plumbing recently completed the installation of our basement toilet and sink. This was a finishing project, addressing a space that had been partially roughed in when the home was built but never fully completed. The work involved adding a new sump well, connecting all the plumbing, and ensuring everything was fully operational. Jay was in and out in half a day, demonstrating exceptional professionalism and efficiency. He was kind and courteous to my wife, took the time to explain the process, and ensured that we were comfortable with the work being done. I felt confident in the quality of his craftsmanship and his attention to detail. I highly recommend Jay and Evenflow Plumbing for any plumbing needs. Their combination of expertise, professionalism, and customer care sets them apart as an excellent choice. If you’re looking for a trustworthy and skilled plumber, they’re a great option."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Ossian, IN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
