"<p>Somehow my laptop corrupted the operating system and would not even boot up. Alexander Technical Resources (Spencer) came to my house to try to repair my computer. We decided that my computer needed to go to their repair facility for some serious work. They were able to save all my data, ran thorough diagnostics and repaired my computer. It was such a relief that I did not loose and data.</p> <p>This is the second time I have used them. The first was to set up this very laptop and transfer all the data from my old PC.</p> <p>I would recommend Alexander Technical Resources and will use them for any other computer repairs. </p> <p><br /></p> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"This started out as a full remodel for one bathroom and then we decided to add the second bathroom shower. Then we added the fireplace hearth and many misc. other jobs. Eric is wonderful and very detail minded. He was open to all suggestions and when asked gave me great ideas on things to buy etc. He is punctual, shows up when he says he will and communicates well. I felt very comfortable having him in our home during this remodel. He does high quality work and makes sure it's done right. If it's not, he will make sure it is done right. Wonderful personality and actually I'll miss him here and making our home look so great! We will hire Eric again in the future for any other of our remodel or update needs. Eric is worth every penny and then some. We highly recommend and we are so glad we hired him for this remodel. Thank you again, Eric!!! Jeff and Donny Thulson"

"I researched several companies on line after deciding I didn?t want to try this myself, having opened an iPod before and encountered a problem. I was not pleased with the price of batteries or service from other companies. Then a friend recommended ?iResQ.? I checked out the website, and called. They answered the phone. That alone was a great sign. The price was right, the process was easy and fast, so I gave it a try. They received it, replaced the battery sent it out UPS the same day. I got it 2 days later. They answered email promptly and were friendly and knowledgeable on the phone. I?ll go back whenever I need Apple products repaired."

"Here is what happened and why we needed an electrician. The lights in our master bath and bedroom went out. After a few hours, we discovered that all four smoke alarms were on the same circuit and were making that maddening beep, beep. It could drive you crazy. Since we had just bought our house in Pagosa Springs, we did not know who to call to help us with this problem. I called a friend and he highly recommended we call Marvin Lord at Lord Electric. I called, left a message and Mr Lord responded within the hour. Remember these things are going Beep, Beep. He came right over and made quick work of the beeping smoke alarms by replacing the batteries for us. One of those is attached to the ceiling over 16 ft high. I would never have been able to get to it except with a shotgun. <br /> Marvin diagnosed the short problem and found a couple of wires that were touching in an electric switch box that has 4 switches to control the electric lights, vent fan etc. in the master bath. It was a very quick fix once the location of the electric short was found. We asked Mr Lord to return to replace some lighting fixtures that we had purchased for our new place. Marvin sent his son, also an electrician out to do this job. The job was scheduled and completed in a courteous and professional manner. We feel like Marvin and his family are new friends. We highly recommend Lord Electric of Pagosa Springs. <br />"

FAQs for generator repair projects in Pagosa Springs, CO

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
