"Responded to my initial call the next day (non emergency). Came to my home when he said he would, Removed his shoes upon entering. I told him my problem, toilet that took too long to fill and the toilet would sometimes not refill after flushing. He looked at it and told me what has to be done. He also mentioned that he noticed another problem, the toilet was not seated securely to the floor. I had recently had new flooring put in and the installer screwed up. Mr. Barger fixed that for me too. His price was very reasonable. Will definitely be calling him for other plumbing issues. J"

"I went on a cleaning binge & decided to remove the shower handles to get rid of mineral buildup. When I removed the caps I discovered that the screw securing the handle to the cold water valve had rusted out. Additionally, a DIYer before me had apparently replaced one of the valve stems with a generic brand...hot & cold water valve stems were different. I actually 1st contacted another "national brand" plumber to give an estimate, but he didn't know what brand the parts "might be", didn't want to replace just the valve stems, and wanted instead to upsell the job to replace pipes, valves + more...estimate was near $900. I called Acorn--a LOCAL company-- and one of their plumbers was kind enough to stop by to assess the situation & identify the likely brand of the parts needing replacement. He then picked up the parts and replaced them at LESS THAN 1/3 the cost of the other guy's scheme."

"My boiler was leaking propane (unbeknownst to me!) and Robert Parker discovered it right away and was so patient and thorough in his work. He was at my house all day but always with a smile and a patient explanation. Any questions I had he answered in great detail and seemed to have all the time in the world to make sure I understood everything although I'm sure he was exhausted and anxious to get home! He was awesome!"

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"It was really good. I thought that they did a good job, prices were reasonable. The guy was really polite and did his job well and it worked out good. They were kind of busy but they did eventually make it out."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Park City, MT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
