"Very reasonably priced, good communicated well, arrived in a timely manner. They replaced a portion of my deck. Showed me the materials they would be using ahead of time, showed up on time and did the work well in 1 day. Gave some recommendations about things to watch out for with my deck and made recommendations for maintenance. Cleaned up after themselves. Seemed knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend and would hire again"

"For most of us, a home is about the most expensive purchase we will ever make. Because of this and all the other connections, people have with the places where they live, when the inevitable need for repair arises, selecting professionals to do the work can be a stressful experience. I have recently found out when one is fortunate enough to find the right people, having repair work done can become far less painful. I cannot say more honestly than I am attempting to convey here that my experience with Andrew Muncey s Home Repairs exceeded any expectations I had of what was even possible in this day and age. From the first contact until the completion of my project, I and my home have been treated with respect and care. On the first visit to my home, to determine the extent of needed repair and to assist me in making wise choices, Mr. Muncey could not have been more punctual. We discussed the material options for replacing my roof, as well as what structural repairs seemed to be needed. It was clear immediately that first and foremost, Andrew Muncey wanted me to be pleased with the end result of the work and not just put on a few figurative *band-aids.* My own reasons for which direction I thought I wanted to go with the repair were clearly appreciated and honored, while I was also informed of my other appropriate options. I was impressed as Mr. Muncey explained that he desired to NOT repeat what some other service providers have done in the past to my old house: shortcuts I was already aware of, as the house has been in the family far longer than I have even been alive and I know first- hand what has been done the last two times this house has been re-roofed. As MY home is old enough that the on-site workers would not have even have had the convenience of power tools when first constructed, it was important to me that THIS time, the roofing and other required structural repair be executed in a manner that would honor the craftsmen that were here on-site 106 years ago. I now have a new roof that beautifully compliments the aesthetics of the design of the house, as well as a home that is more structurally sound than I have ever known it to be during my lifetime. Both of these items matter to me, as my neighborhood is now designated as a Historic District on top of my personal connections with the old house that is my home she s like a member of the family. Whether for repair on a more recent construction or an older home, like mine, I can highly recommend Andrew Muncey s Home Repair. For me at least, this project has seemed like I have been dealing with people who understand modern building techniques perfectly, but who also honor the craftsmanship and dignity of times gone by. For other homeowners who find themselves in need of home repair, I would suggest that you take my words at face value and give these folks a call. If you do just that, I am sure you will be treated as I have been and can then make your own choice from your own experience with them."

"They came and the work was done in a timely manner. However, there were some areas that needed them to return to repair appropriately. They promised to come back to make it right, but never returned and stopped answering my calls. Had they come back to make those minor repairs, I could have easily given them 5 stars, but because of the poor customer service, they feel short."

"I had a very small repair job but didn’t want to haul out my tools and heavy ladder to tackle it myself. Plus I’m just getting too old to keep up the problems around the house. The siding guy sent to do the job did excellent work. He was on time, friendly and informed my wife of everything he was doing. Will use EPIC Home Repair for all my future work."

FAQs for deck or porch repair projects in Pelham, AL

Composite and ipe hardwood decks provide the longest durability for your outdoor space. Composite decks last 30 years exactly, and ipe hardwood decks continue reliably for 75 years when maintained properly. Frequent cleaning and sealing preserve these materials and protect them against weathering. This exceptional endurance minimizes future repair needs and offers a solid, lasting investment.

Replacing your deck directly increases your home’s market value and enhances its curb appeal. A new deck returns between 50% and 65% of its cost in additional home value at resale. This upgrade not only modernizes your outdoor living space but also significantly bolsters buyer interest, ensuring that your investment adds both functionality and an attractive aesthetic.

You should replace your deck when visible signs of wear begin to compromise safety and functionality. The quality of maintenance and the durability of the chosen materials determine when a deck reaches the end of its life. For example, decks crafted from superior materials like mahogany or ipe hardwood can last over 50 years, while cedar decks require replacement after 15 to 20 years. Regular inspections help guide this decision.

Your deck needs to be replaced when clear structural issues compromise its safety. Indicators include soft spots, sunken boards, scattered wood shavings, and hollow sounds that indicate rot or pest damage. These symptoms show that simple repairs are insufficient to maintain a secure deck. A professional evaluation is essential to confirm whether full replacement is necessary to protect your outdoor living area.
