"<p>We selected Holton Bros. because they had a great reputation for the work they do.  They were definitely not the cheapest but they are the company we had the most trust in doing the job right.  We wanted to trust the contractor would do the job right and we did not want to ever have to deal with this issue again so we were willing to pay more for Holton Bros. craftsmanship.  Matt provided us with an estimate and explained everything they would do and that there were some unknowns that would need to be tackled after demolition of the old porch.  <br /> <br /> </p> <p>The guys showed up and really got after it.  They removed the old sinking cement and removed the old brick façade. Reinforced the porch area with rebar so it would not sink in the future and poured the new porch.  They put up a gorgeous new brick that all the neighbors have commented on and then poured a new cement walkway to replace an old sinking brick walk.</p> <p>The Holton Bros. crew (headed by Darwin) was very professional and really did exquisite work.  The actual invoice came in right around the estimate Matt put together despite the fact we picked out a much more expensive brick than we were replacing.  Holton Bros. did not require any money down upfront.  They sent us an invoice after all work was completed.</p> <p>We would definitely recommend Holton Bros. to neighbors, friends and family.  They do great work at a very fair price and we trusted them throughout the entire process (which is priceless) to correct the shoddy work done by the original builder.</p> <p>Big thanks to Matt L., Darwin and all the other Holton Bros. crew members that pitched in to repair our home!<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"Great service. Responsive and worked with our schedule to complete the project professionally. Eric and crew were very helpful with understanding repairs and application process. Looks fantastic and comforting to know it's eco-safe product. We plan on repeating this on an apron and concrete curb in the spring."

"They did a great job. We had another contractor do our garage floor last year and we did not have a good experience with them. Colorful Concrete Solutions met every expectation --pricing, communication, timeliness in performing work and quality. We would definitely recommend them to others. Only suggestion would be to bring along more color samples to view."

"Did not see removal work or new base being done but the result looked very good. Weather prevented the asphalt being completed as planned. On the rescheduled date a crew of about 10 people showed up. Very professional and respectful of our property. The new driveway is excellent."

"My experience with Universal (David and Debi) was EXCEPTIONAL!!!. From the phone call, to getting a written estimate, and scheduling the work it went extremely well. <br /> They inspected driveway and made a cost effective recommendation for repairs. The recommendation was complete and very reasonable. Once we scheduled the work it was completed as scheduled. They made sure that the weather allow for proper curing. <br /> I highly recommend to anyone looking for a reputable and highly professional organization to look no further than Universal. I will certain look to them for any of my future concrete construction work. <br />"

"We've had Mike do several things for us.  He landscaped and regraded a side-yard that was having poor drainage.  Haven't had any basement water issues, since.  He installed a dishwasher for us and was willing to pick one out for us to b/c I could care less about that sort-of thing and don't have time.  He has also fixed our dryer.  He is amazing and I trust him completely!"

"Andiry came out a couple of times.  I finally decided to do concrete (I had been debating on whether to replace with landscaping blocks).  its about 40 feet long, 3 feet wide, needed to be pitched correctly, and the old walkway had to come out.  Andiry came out on a Saturday (on time) to write the contract, and started work 2 days later.  It was done 5 days later.  It looks great, and the work site was cleaned up.  there is a bit of a language barrier, but it's easy to work through. <br />"

"The project went very well.  I've talked to a number of professionals over the years about where the water could be coming in and what the best way to fix it would be.  They all had very expensive, very invasive ideas - but Quick came out, assessed the situation, helped me find the crack and fixed it from the inside with little disruption and no mess.  The fix was VERY cost effective and my next steps to get my living space back to it's orginal condition will be limited!  Quick showed up on time, took the time to explain what they were doing and the assumptions they were making.  They quoted me a price on the phone and stuck to it when they came to the house.  They were professional and polite and I enjoyed working with them. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Pell-lake, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
