"Daniel was extremely responsive, positive from hearing description of my electric problem, offered same day assessment. Once he diagnosed the problem and described plan of treatment, I was able to relax. Daniel immediately searched for replacement materials and committed to fixing the next day. The new ceiling lights installed with damaged wiring replaced, and job done as promised. Text communication, receiving invoice by email, all made this a positive experience. Thank you for excellent, professional service! I highly recommend ultimate electric for any electrical services!"

"<p>Somehow my laptop corrupted the operating system and would not even boot up. Alexander Technical Resources (Spencer) came to my house to try to repair my computer. We decided that my computer needed to go to their repair facility for some serious work. They were able to save all my data, ran thorough diagnostics and repaired my computer. It was such a relief that I did not loose and data.</p> <p>This is the second time I have used them. The first was to set up this very laptop and transfer all the data from my old PC.</p> <p>I would recommend Alexander Technical Resources and will use them for any other computer repairs. </p> <p><br /></p> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Jerry gave me a very detailed schematic of the work he would do and the cost. He was able to start work the day we got the pool. He finished in 2 days. He was very knowledgeable and explained to me the rules regarding the new pool and the electrical requirements. I looked into a different electrician before I found Jerry and they told me it would be 3 weeks before they could even come out just to give me an estimate. I would strongly recommend Jerry to anyone who needed any electrical work. I am thankful that I found him on here."

"We've needed assistance from time to time to do small repairs, etc. around our home. Whenever we've called on Juanita she's been able to schedule a technician to come our within 24 hours to attend to our needs. We've installed a water heater timer, changed out electrical switches, trouble shot a faulty GFI outlet and even repaired an old wiring issue that some other electrician made a mistake with. Very professional and efficient."

"Precision Pro Builders is amazing! They were so helpful in our decision process, from suggesting places to choose our flooring to asking us before making any decision on something they thought we may want to provide input or make the final decision. <br /> We just bought our house at the end of October and originally started to tackle the floor on our own, but realized right away we wouldn't have the time to finish the project before we moved in at the beginning of December. We called a few different contractors, and Precision Pro Builders were able to easily answer all of our questions and were very knowledgeable. They were timely and communicated quickly via phone, text, and email.  <br /> Chris and Skip were able to fit us into their schedule and finish all of our flooring before we moved in! They even made suggestions on where to look for our flooring, we ended up going with a Pergo for our living area and bedrooms, and a nice ceramic tile for the kitchen. Based on our experience, we quickly let them know that we would like to hire them for our other big project - a complete kitchen makeover.  <br /> We designed our kitchen at Home Depot and ordered Martha Stewart cabinets. In the meantime, Chris and Skip and their crew were able to prep for the kitchen install, including demoing a partial wall that separated our kitchen and dining areas. They rerouted all the plumbing and electrical that ran through the wall, and moved the switches to a convenient location. It really opened up our living space, and they thought ahead of all of the changes so we could order our granite countertops and have them ready when the cabinets came in. They also closed up the ceiling where we had them install a water line for our fridge. They retextured the wall and ceiling and blended everything very well so it looked seamless. <br /> Once the cabinets came in, Chris and Skip worked us into their busy schedule. I appreciated that when they came to work, they never seemed rushed, and would explain everything they were going to work on that day and their estimated time of completion. Since we were now living in our house, they took care to protect the floors and our furniture, and clean up throughout the project.  <br /> Precision Pro Builders installed our floor-to-ceiling white cabinets, complete with decorative molding and cabinet handles. They made sure every soft closing door and drawer worked perfectly. Next, they had our gray and white granite slab countertops installed, complete with a cutout area for our sink. Next, the sink, faucet, garbage disposal, and garbage disposal button was installed - Chris suggested a button next to the sink for the disposal vs a switch on the wall, it looks very sleek. They also caught little things we didn't think of, such as moving more switches to fit the cabinets, and making sure the existing exhaust hole lined up perfectly with the new overhead convection oven.  <br /> Chris and Skip made sure to come back and inspect all of the work, and to make sure we were happy with the final results. Chris is really into the details, he made sure everything looked great.  <br /> The most helpful thing besides fast and excellent communication was that Precision Pro Builders gave us tips and suggestions throughout the entire process. We appreciated that a lot since there were a lot of little details that went into the projects. <br /> I would absolutely use again, and recommend, Precision Pro Builders to anyone looking for a great contractor company on Maui. Flooring, Cabinet installation, countertops, finishing work, plumbing, electrical ... they do it all, and do it well! <br />"

FAQs for generator repair projects in Pepeekeo, HI

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
