"We could not ask for a better experience with a painter -- Mr. Alden was prompt, efficient and clean. He is a consummate professional and a true gentleman. We had him working on our house while we were away and he sent photos of his progress with regular updates. We heartily recommend Alden Painting for all your painting needs. "Darryl is new to the area after working for years in Florida. He was a fabulous person to work with, we got his name from a granite company we got an estimate with that he has been working with. That granite company we also used and they were HORRIBLE but i would recommend Darryl of East Coast cabinets to anyone. He delivers a quality product in a professional manner and delivered quality installation with a pleasant attitude. There were a couple minor mishaps through the process, and that happens and we were not upset at all because he took responsibility and the initiative to fix it! Wonderful old school mentality of taking pride in his work and great craftsmanship. Prices were comparable to all other we compared to and his product was much better quality than most others. Communication through the process was very good. Thank you Darryl for a job well done!"

"Deciding to bite the bullet and remodel the entire first floor of my home, I knew I needed to use a professional who understood it was the home I grew up in and that it would be an emotional renovation. Steve had redone a bathroom for me previously, so after an initial consultation on this huge project, I knew he was the one for the job. I've never been happier with the quality of work, communication, and friendliness that Steve provided from start to finish. <br /> The work encompassed a lot...brand new kitchen, 1st floor bathroom, foyer, dining room, living room, fireplace, front porch, and stairs. Yes, a lot of work, especially considering the layout was changed by removing a wall and pretty much everything was gutted down to the studs. It's tough to describe all the work he did without seeing it, but he installed brand new cabinets, bathroom vanity/sink, appliances, tile and bamboo floors, new doors including front entry door, new stone on the porch surrounding the door, new columns on the porch, and even custom-made moldings throughout. <br /> The best part of hiring Steve to do the work was that he's not only a skilled builder, but he has a fantastic design sense. He made suggestions along the way about different directions we could go for some of the details, and every single person who has walked into my house since the work has literally said "wow". Any contractor can build what you want them to build, but the small details and refusal to stop short of perfection make Steve an extremely rare find. If you don't hire Steve for your project, you're short-changing yourself in a BIG way! <br />"

"I consider myself very lucky to have met Ricky and to have worked with him.  Ricky was recommended to me by a family friend and I walked over to introduce myself at a house he was working on nearby.  Smart move!  Ricky is straightforward, friendly and honest. That last adjective.....honest, is so important when someone is working on your home.  I am so pleased with the end results of Ricky's work.  He is very professional and very careful and concise in all of his work. <br /> At one point during a bathroom renovation, Ricky discovered wood rot in the floor.  He thoroughly investigated the problem rather than ignoring it and continuing with installation of the tile floor.  Ricky reviewed this issue with me, showing me what he found from both inside and outside the house, providing options for courses of action .  He was then able to incorporate extremely important repair into the bathroom renovation at a very reasonable cost, avoiding what could have been a dangerous situation and costly repair in the future. <br /> Ricky proved himself to be very trustworthy.  In the initial stages of his work, I was present.  Later, I would simply give him keys to the house and felt completely comfortable with him working when the family was away for sometimes weeks at a time.  He always treated our home with great respect and respectfully limited the impact of his work on the cleanliness and accessibility to the rest of the house. <br /> I have highly recommended Ricky to neighbors and friends in the area.  And there is no doubt that I will mainitain a strong relationship with him in the future. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Peru, VT

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
