"Nick and his team are honest and professional. I first call them about a new third floor roof. I went up there myself and it was a mess, cracked tar, soft spots in the wood underneath. They fixed the problem in their first visit which was only a day, completely replacing the roof. Based on their performance on the first visit, I had them come back to replace two custom-sized skylights. He fixed this issue as well beautifully. After both visits they cleaned the job up so well you'd never know roofing contractors were ever there. No more leaks!!"

"Paragon replaced the flashing and siding around the chimney because the roof leaked during storms with high wind. Paragon also repaired the damage to the ceilings on the main and second floors due to the leak. After the work was done, a severe storm hit and the leak was back. I called Paragon and they came out immediately to inspect. They guaranteed they would repair the flashing again and repair the ceilings at no charge because they stood behind their original work. They repaired the flashing and told me to call them after the next severe storm to make sure the repair was successful before repairing the ceiling damage. Sure enough, another storm with winds struck, and there was no leakage. I called Paragon, and they sent a crew to repair the ceiling. Thank you to Mauricio and his crew for handling the repairs!"

"KES did an excellent job replacing our roof and gave us the best price. The workmanship was great and we appreciated working with Ron throughout the process. He walked us through the replacement start-to-finish and helped us pick all the options we needed. One of the reasons we went with KES is because of the additional services they provide when compared to other roofers, as explained by Ron. They use stainless steel nails and GAF shingles, which allowed KES to offer us a very good warranty on the roof, which was important to us. The skylight was done perfectly, also. We are very happy and would not hesitate to call KES again in the future when we need our siding done."

"All the other companies said I need new gutter and entire fascia with aluminum capping. GP home improvement came over and said he could fix my existing gutter. He also said the fascia is weathered, is not rotted. He said he could salvage the existing gutter. He is dependable, professional, approachable, and honest. He was able to do it for considerably less. He made sure the gutter was cleaned out and attached before the winter. He is looking to build confidence and trust in customers. A lot of contractors take advantage of customers situations and gauge them, he did not do that. He is relaxed, calm and always smiling. He did not insist on paying down payment. It is very rare to come across a contractor like this."

FAQs for existing skylight repair, replacements or sealing projects in Philadelphia, PA

Yes, skylights can heat your house. Skylights pull in plenty of sunlight, and that solar gain raises indoor temperatures during bright hours. The extra warmth is great in winter, but can feel stuffy in summer. Keep the heat in check with shades, low-E coatings, or reflective films so you enjoy the light without driving up cooling bills.

A newly installed skylight lasts for eight to 15 years when built and maintained well. Regular cleaning, prompt repairs, and removing obstructions such as leaves and debris help keep the unit in optimal condition. Consistent maintenance prevents premature deterioration and keeps the skylight operating safely and efficiently over its lifespan.

Several issues trigger skylight leaks. The unit may not sit flush with the roof, letting water sneak in, or the flashing and weather-stripping could be breaking down. Sometimes it’s just interior condensation that drips when the AC runs hard against humid outdoor air. A quick inspection tells you which fix is needed.

Replacing a skylight takes between three and five hours under straightforward conditions, with professional crews ensuring safe installation. Larger units, custom shapes, very high ceilings, or hard-to-access areas add extra complexity, extending the work time accordingly. Careful planning and expert handling guarantee a secure replacement process even when complications are present.

It is not safe to attempt skylight repair or replacement on your own because the work involves dangerous roof access, handling fragile glass, and managing a heavy frame. Expert professionals provide the necessary skills and safety precautions, ensuring that installations or repairs are performed correctly while preventing injury and additional property damage.
