"I acquired several quotes to do full front and back yard landscaping. Daryl's quote was the most reasonable and I am very happy with the work. Daryl and his team finished in about 2 weeks and probably could have been done quicker, however, my wife and I made changes along the way that caused some delays and Daryl was very accommodating to our requests and provided excellent suggestions along the way. Daryl and team do fantastic work and I would not hesitate to hire him again for future projects. AAA+++ on service, price and professionalism. He installed 650 square feet of pavers to make a walkway and three large patio areas on yard that had formerly been covered with landscape rock. He also installed new irrigation piping and lines. "I feel bad writing this review because L&M are very nice; however my experience left me so upset that I can't let it go. Things started off great - they showed up as scheduled for a consultation and I chose them based off the great reviews on Angi, Matt's friendliness and responsiveness, and the reasonable price I was quoted. It turned out that the project was more complicated than they expected so they ended up charging me nearly $3000 over the quoted price. I understand sometimes projects go over budget but, as professionals, they should have known to a reasonable degree what the project would entail. When I explained this, they gave me a "deal" and only charged me $2000 over the quote and offered a discount on future work. Ok, fine. After the project was "finished" my husband and I found an extensive list of issues with the work (mostly very minor, except for some cement that was poured such that my gate would no longer open and close). They fixed all of these, I paid them and all was fine. Flash forward a couple of weeks and I'm about to order a gazebo for the paver slab they installed and instead of the 13X13 I requested it actually measures 12x10. Admittedly, I should have noticed this earlier but I was preoccupied with the extra $2k I had just paid for the job. When I messed M about this he replied the "the slab is 12x12". Huh?? When stated again, no it is 12X10 he never replied. So in short: project was misquoted and off by $3000 and the work was not done to specification. I would have rated 2 stars, but the paver work is beautiful and, had everything been done correctly, I certainly would have recommended L&M to others. My recommendation for anyone using this company is to have the quote and specs written down before they start."

"The steel mailboxes in our community are cemented into roadside masonry pillars. Some unknown miscreant apparently ran into my mailbox (but not the post), damaging the mailbox so extensively that I had to replace it.

I purchased a larger mailbox, and contacted Sergio Verdugo to install it. I did not seek competitive bids, but just asked him to do the job.

Because the new mailbox was larger than the old one, he and his assistant George had to chisel, saw, and jackhammer the concrete pillar to enlarge the hole to house the mailbox. The concrete was hard, about 20 years old, and Sergio complained that it was the hardest concrete he had ever had to deal with.

Hours later the job was done and the mailbox was cemented into place. Unfortunately, Sergio did not check in with me to consult about placement of the new mailbox, so it ended up being inserted into the post farther than I would have liked, was slightly cockeyed, and the clean-up was not ideal (some stucco remained on the mailbox)--hence the lower score for "quality."

The cost was more than I expected it to be, but most likely that is because of the extra time and labor involved in enlarged the cavity. But I'm a newcomer to the area, and have no feeling for what things should cost.

Although I indicated I would use Sergio Verdugo's services again in the future, I will seek competitive bids next time.
