Small jobs welcome

"East Coast Masonry did an amazing job from start to finish with our new construction foundation and brick veneer work! They were the first mason I’ve hired that professionalism and results exceeded expectations. We set a schedule upfront and they showed up to work daily. It was such a welcomed change to not have to call chasing them to show up. "

"The crew arrived in the late afternoon on a day following a huge rainstorm, which was rather ill-advised since my yard is basically a swamp when it rains that much.  However, most of what they had to do was with bushes around my driveway, and that area isn't so low.  Landscape Designs had completely landscaped my shrubs and all around the outside of my house last year (2014) and did a superb job.  They warranty their plants for a full year, and over the past year I needed several replaced that died.  Another died over the winter, but since the warranty was out I had to pay for that one this time, but I knew that was the deal.  I also asked them to remove the accumulating residue from burning leaves and grass over the past several years, but to do that they needed a small bulldozer.  Fortunately, they already knew the condition of my yard and drove the bulldozer around the perimeter to lessen the chances of ruts being made.  <br />"

"I contacted Jerry after asking my neighbor who installed his fence and I am so glad I did. After scheduling an appointment with Julia in the office, both she and Jerry came out as scheduled and provided us with an estimate, which was by far the lowest of four (4) estimates I received. Prior to them coming, I read the reviews on Angie's List (which I rely on heavily because I'm from out-of-state and a new homeowner) It was a no brainer to go with Big Jerry's Fencing (BJF), a decision I do not regret. <br /> Installation was delayed due to the rainy weather, which I totally understood. BJF gave me a discount in the price because of this...not expected, but greatly appreciated. Installation was scheduled for a Tuesday, BJF came out 3 days earlier and installed my fence in 1 day. <br /> I hope my neighbors ask, because I will happily recommend and quot;Big Jerry's Fencingand quot; <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Pikeville, NC

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
