"From the moment I contacted Ed I felt as if it would be a good outcome, and I wasn t disappointed. We walked all around the house foundation-repair project and discussed possible fixes. I asked to see pictures of previous jobs, he presented the proposal, I mulled it over, and I received responses to my questions. I made the required deposit, he provided reasonable start and finish dates and kept me updated on the schedule. He rebuilt about 90% of my 100 year-old house foundation/retaining wall, and painted it along with the porch, stairs, window frames, threshold, etc. He placed vinyl railings and covered three columns. Did I mentioned that my house looks amazing? When COVID-19 hit, he kept me abreast of supply deadlines and consulted with me regarding material and proposal changes. He and his team put in a full days work each day unless the weather didn t cooperate. They cleaned up daily and left it looking better than when they started. I plan to hire him in the future for another project or two."

"They did an amazing job. Came one day to demo and remove the old patio and walkway. Next day, the new concrete was poured and was ready to go. Met the deadline that we had stated. Would hire again."

"They were great to work with. Only hiccup was having to add fire suppression per county inspectors. The floor to finish was all done within a reasonable schedule and professionally completed."

"I am very grateful that Angie's List gave me the opportunity to find the reviews that led me to Everitt Concrete Construction,LLC. Getting my concrete front porch completely redone turned out to be a very pleasing experience. I waited a year to file my feedback because I wanted to be sure the new porch survived the winter. A year later my porch is as nice as the day it was completed and I happily paid the bill. Mr. Everitt quickly came out to give me an estimate. I was impressed with his friendly business attitude. This was April and he told me that he would email me an estimate in a day or so and he would be able to get to my porch in August. I had several estimates and based on the reviews in Angie's List, I chose Everitt Concrete Construction,LLC. Sure enough I got a call in August and the porch replacement was started. The porch replacement took a couple days. As it turned out, the old porch was falling apart due to being left empty inside when the house was initially built. Mr. Everitt spent extra time getting a large truckload of small stone to fill the inside of the porch. This was not included in the estimate, but was required for a long lasting porch. I expected the final bill would be about $700 more than the estimate due to needing the stone filler. To my amazement the final bill was exactly what was estimated. Mr Everitt was very professional. I paid nothing upfront. He started the job when he said he would. He stayed with it until he was done. He cleaned up all traces of him being there. He even planted some grass seed where his heavy equipment had set. When he was finished he made sure I was completely satisfied and only then presented me the bill which was exactly what was estimated. I was truly impressed with the professionalism, the quality of work, and the extras that he did to ensure the beauty and quality of the job. I was also impressed that he stuck with the original estimate. I was able to find Everitt Concrete Construction,LLC based on the reviews I read in Angie's List. Angie's List really works."

"Recently purchased 107 year old home.  One side of stone foundation had crumbling mortar joints and missing stones. Needed repaired and tuck pointed. Woody came out examined the foundation and masonry work and had an estimate with in one hour of getting my call.  Very knowledgeable about very old masonry work.  Work was completed in 2-3 days by himself and crew or 2-3.  Went to great pains not to damage neighbors newly stamped concrete walk between houses.  Clean up was very complete and the foundation looks brand new.  Definitely would hire again.  Does everything exactly as he says he will."

"I have some level of disappointment because Acculevel was unable to lift the patio back to its original position. That being said, I think the challenges they encountered would have been encountered by anyone else, and some of the other one-man mudjacking operations who wanted to use buckets or wheelbarrows to carry slurry back to my patio probably would have given up earlier. I chose Acculevel because they use foam instead of slurry (which should last much longer), they had a 300 foot hose solving problems with access to the backyard (I live on a steep slope with retaining walls), and I had more confidence selecting them compared to independent one-man operations who do mudjacking. Their price wasn't the highest bid I received but it wasn't the lowest. I thought it was fair given the foam is a higher quality product. The crew actually arrived an hour early, which actually wasn't ideal but not a big deal (a call would have been nice). They worked hard and I suspect they were there much longer than they had originally envisioned. They did a nice job sealing all cracks when they were done with a high-quality crack filler which most of the mudjacking guys told me they don't do. The good crack filler can be messy and difficult to work with so this was a nice little bonus. Although they couldn't get the patio back to where it was, they worked hard to do the best they could without risking damage to the retaining wall. At least with the foam they use, I have confidence it won't sink anymore."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Piqua, OH

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
