Customers say: Super punctual

"I cannot emphasize how pleased we are with the work that Insulwise completed in our home. From the initial consultation with Erik to the completion of the job Insulwise was exceptional. This week we had blown-in insulation installed, Aeroseal and spray foam added to our rim joists. I was so impressed with both crews that worked here, Zach, Cody and Jake showed up for 2 days, working non-stop to blow the insulation into our walls and attic. I could not believe the amount of work that they did. Zach was crawling into spaces that only a child could get into. The 3 of them were so polite and accommodating. Although the work was messy they left my home very clean. Brian and Will performed the Aeroseal in the furnace and spray foam of the basement. They were so respectful and friendly. Once again the work area was cleaned. All my questions were answered thoroughly. Andy, the owner, came out at the end of the job for the installation of the attic vents. I admire an owner of a company that meets me after climbing off my roof! Andy also checked all the work that was done and even double checked on a part of the attic that did not require work. During the process I had to call the office to check on a few things and Sarah was so helpful. We were lucky that it was in the 60's all week so the guys could comfortably work but I can't wait until it gets cold again to actually see the difference that this will make! Thanks!"

"A friend recommended Bob Claytor of American Building Prod. when I mentioned I needed new gutters. Bob came and measured for replacing my old gutters with the larger commercial size seamless gutters and covers. Bob was very easy to work with and he was very accommodating. The price was right and the installers did a good job."

"I called to get a quote on the removal and installation for insulation in my attic. Erik Bachman was our Home Performance Specialist and was incredibly knowledgeable and honest with the quality of our existing insulation. As new home owners, the investment of installing new insulation can be overwhelming. Erik was very thorough in his inspection and was easy to talk to about what would make most sense in terms of an investment for our home. When the time is right, we will definitely give Insulwise a call for service. I am impressed with the high-level of customer service. I am relieved knowing that there is a local trust worthy company that I can call in the coming months to get the job done."

"We had a lot of exterior upgrading done - leaky roof, new windows in the upper floor to replace old ones with irreparable condensation, old leaky patio with rusty supports. This company deserves its "exceptional" name! The roof was completed in one day by a team of six workers. The six upper floor windows were done in two days by a team of two. Siding was completed in three days by a single expert worker. Completely new porch was done in four days ."

"The service went very well. The service was provided on time and as scheduled. The crew were prompt and cleaned up the general area once all repairs were made. The owner came to follow up the same day as the service. I would refer them to others in need of roof repairs or replacement.

FAQs for batt, rolled or reflective insulation install or upgrade projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Batt insulation excels in vertical installations because it remains firmly in place and delivers consistent thermal performance. Blown-in insulation performs exceptionally in spaces such as attics, efficiently filling gaps in irregular areas.

Employing both insulation types according to their strengths enhances your home’s overall energy efficiency and comfort by providing a tailored solution for every space.

Start by measuring the square footage of the space, then match that area with the insulation thickness you need to hit your target R-value. Add a buffer for waste and odd-shaped spots so every cavity is covered.

Once you have a rough count, run it past a local insulation pro—their on-site advice will fine-tune the numbers and help you avoid costly miscalculations.

Old insulation that is dry, intact, and mold-free does not require removal before adding new insulation; stacking new insulation over it maintains effective thermal performance and boosts energy efficiency.

If the insulation is damp, moldy, or deteriorated, removal is necessary to eliminate health risks and ensure maximum effectiveness of the new layer. A professional insulation contractor will assess your situation and recommend the most effective solution.

Installing insulation in an average-sized home using batts or boards requires five to 12 hours. Using spray foam or blown-in insulation requires two to five hours. These timeframes are determined by the area’s size, accessibility, and whether old insulation must be removed.

Complex projects and hard-to-reach spaces demand extra time. Hiring an experienced insulation professional ensures that the installation is completed efficiently and correctly.

Insulation is measured by R-value, which defines how effectively it resists heat flow. A higher R-value provides superior thermal resistance, ensuring your home remains warm in winter and cool in summer.

Choosing the correct R-value is essential for maximizing energy efficiency and comfort, and it directly impacts long-term utility savings. Professional guidance determines the optimal R-value for your specific climate.
