"I am extremely pleased with the work that Kirby Masonry did. I had an old all brick stairway (8 feet wide, 7 stairs high) replaced with brick risers and pillars/sidewalls (as original) but with blue mist granite treads. I believe the brick color was Mohawk. I originally thought of using bluestone but Jason suggested blue mist granite. He and his stone supplier, Southridge Farm in Walpole, informed me that bluestone is not as durable, supply is dwindling and is more expensive than blue granite. It was a good alternative to the regular gray granite that is used and I like the look. The mortar in the original brick stairs was disintegrating due to the use of salt for snow/ice melting and I was committed to having a stair surface that would be less permeable to chemicals. Jason and his crew did outstanding work and the results are superb. The new stairs look fantastic and are much safer now that the old brick stairs have been replaced. The new stairs looked so good that I was inspired to have the stair landing leading to the sidewalk and the upper landing leading to the front door replaced as well. The original landings were stamped concrete and were OK but detracted from the look of the new stairs. I had Jason and his crew install both landings with Belgard rectangle pavers (London Cobble Danville Blend for the landings Charcoal for the borders). The finished job added a cleaner, elegant and updated look to the house. In addition to the front stair and landing replacement I had Jason and his crew point the stone foundation of the house. It had been pointed about 15 years ago but I felt it was time to get it done again. I like the work that Jason and the crew had done and was confident that they would do a thorough job with the pointing, too. Jason had time in his schedule to fit in the pointing job so I had it done right after the stairs were replaced. I talked to several masons last fall before selecting Kirby Masonry and was running up against the cold weather for getting the job done. Quotes ranged from $4,000 to $20,000 depending on how much work was involved. Jason's quote was most favorable and he offered different options since I wasn't sure if I was going to replace the pillars/sidewalls or if I needed to replace the landings. He was flexible and provided me with several locations where he was currently doing work or had completed work so I could see what his work was like. I liked that these jobs were local and that he was transparent about his work. He could have done the work last November but we decided to have it done this past spring. Jason offered the best price and could do the job sooner than the others. It took about a week to do all the jobs. After the jobs were done I noticed there was a small gap in the upper landing between the border and the wall where more mortar was needed. I contacted Jason and he took care of it. It was a very small fix and not critical so I was not surprised when it was not taken care of right away. I believe that if I was more concerned about getting this fixed sooner Jason would have done it. Overall, I highly recommend Kirby Masonry and will definitely hire them again for any masonry job I might have. Jason is very timely and communicates mostly by texting and responds quickly. He was there every day working with his crew. They did a great job cleaning up and even replaced the soil in the areas of the lawn next to the side pillars which had been displaced/moved. I have received many compliments on the new stairs and landing from my neighbors and people who parked on the street near the house. Unlike some masons he did not place a sign on the lawn with his company name. I suggested that he might want to but he was ok not doing so. I've had some requests for his contact information which I gladly provide. Since Jason is very busy and if you like his quote I recommend that you get on his schedule as soon as possible. Some tips: Use sand on brick stairs. Salt and chemicals wreck the mortar. Who knew especially when we were trying to keep up during the megastorms of 2014-2015? If you go to Southridge Farm you might want to bring your kids as they have farm animals (including a llama) on site. They have a huge selection of pavers and stones to view. "The Driveway Specialists were hired to pave our driveway, we agreed on a price of $3500. Work was done on 10/12/2013. <br /> Driveway looked beautiful, but when we were able to walk on it, we did not find the cap of the shut-off gas valve for the house- THEY PAVED OVER THE SHUT-OFF GAS VALVE CAP, DID NOT NOTICE IT!!! THE ROUND CAP OF THE SHUT-OFF GAS VALVE FOR THE HOUSE WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE BEFORE DRIVEWAY WAS RE-DONE!!! AND THEN IT HAS DISAPPEARED UNDER THE NEW PAVEMENT!!! <br /> Contractor was informed and asked to fix this in spring when the weather permits. All communications were with James Flynn, one of the owners, a young man who takes care of the Norfolk county part of their business. He was at the property when the work was done. We called him in the beginning of April, and again at the end of April as we did not hear from the company. We asked contractor to contact Dig Safe as we felt it was their responsibility to fix their own error. Per Dig Safe request Columbia Gas person came and marked the gas valve location spot on the pavement. Contractor cut 2x2x2 ft opening in the newly paved driveway, and did not find the valve as the marking was one foot off. Per our request Columbia Gas came back, cut the opening one foot longer, located, repaired, and raised the valve to the level of the new pavement. They filled and patched the hole, it looked rough. <br /> We felt it was responsibility of The Driveway Specialists company to fix the rough patch as if not for their mistake paving over the valve, we would not have had this problem. <br /> After multiple calls, James Flynn came and looked at the hole. He promised to fix it using mixture of liquid asphalt and sand. He also said that seal-coating is due this summer, why not to do it at the same time, the price is $350, a $100 discount for our troubles. We agreed and left him a check- never again we will pay for work before seeing how it was done! <br /> Seal-coat was done on 06/18/14, but the ugly patch was not fixed. <br /> We called James again, and asked why the patch was not fixed before seal-coating. He said we have it wrong- seal coating first, then fixing the patch!!! And he will come to fix the patch on 06/24/14, 12:30-1:30. he called at 12:30 to let us know he needs friend's help, and they will come after 6PM. He never came or called again. On 06/25/14 Columbia Gas company contractor (per company's record) came over and performed a rough job around the edges, and took away asphalt cut-outs. <br /> Be aware that Driveway Specialists owners request payment checks to be written to their names, and not to the company name, and immediately cash them. We regret doing this as cancelling the check is not an option. <br /> Both owners are smooth talkers and make a very pleasant first impression, but luck experience and do not keep their word. <br />"

"I received quotes for three different options - the cedar fence, an alternative in vinyl, and a repair of the broken fence. The sales guy was very easy to get hold of and provided the quotes promptly. I went with the cedar and it was installed in two days. For some reason, the old fence posts had been sunk in concrete, and all the concrete had to be removed. The yard was cleaned up both days, and the fence came out really nice. <br> <br>18 months later, the fence still looks good."
