"The work looks excellent and that’s particularly amazing because the topography created some challenges. Their work transformed my property from looking dilapidated to looking well-maintained. It is a joy to walk the professional spacious newly designed paths replacing a tiny one I had before. It is a joy to walk the beautiful driveway, replacing the previous crumbling substrate. I had an especially positive experience with the estimator Mark, who not only wrote up the project in detail and expertly, but also drafted a drawing of the work to be done that blew out of the water anything received by the other companies with whom I received bids. Due to his excellent work, and shepherding the project through to completion, which included several visits, Mark really outdid himself and helped the workers to know exactly what needed to be done. The fact that he kindly came back and fixed up some concrete cracks and holes in my steps really blew me away. He also promised to return with some additional dirt. These things demonstrate the commitment to leave the customer fully satisfied with the best job there can be. The workers were punctual, nice, did each of their aspects of the job professionally, and cleaned up well afterward. I was very impressed with the job and am extremely happy with the results. I highly recommend Able Concrete!"

"This was our first big remodeling project and our expectations were quite high. However . . . Carpentry Plus far exceeded our expectations. They did a beautiful job and, it being our first remodel, were very helpful with suggestions on what was needed, from what items were needed, from cabinetry to backsplash to countertops to flooring. We'll be hiring them again for our next project."

"Quality of product installed and workmanship I am pleased with. However, post install is why I have deemed necessary to leave this review. The crew left food waste in our yard and gutters. Lawn was not adequately swept for nails and staples. Upon reinstalling my TV antenna, observed pieces of shingle, siding, aluminum flashing, nails and staples in one gutter. This prompted me to inspect all gutters, where I found more of the same. Had two exhaust vents installed for bathroom fans. The crew did not leave necessary couplers to connect provided duct to vents in attic. The project manager provided necessary couplings by personally delivering to my house which I am appreciative of. Discovered packaging material from shingles, along with shingle remnants in my attic. The sales presentation and documentation was why I chose Palmer Construction over lowest bidder, about $5000. The owner and sales person have yet to reply to my emails and/or phone messages. The project manager is the only staff who contacted me and followed up. Not how I would run my business or manage my staff. They also jeopardized an opportunity to earn an additional project. I got a new roof which hopefully will last until I move and they got my money."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Potterville, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
