"Replacing a roof and gutters is a major project and finding the right roofing company was very important to me. I met with a number of different companies and finally decided on CHI (Craftsman Home Improvement). They didn’t just come look at the roof and send me a proposal instead they came looked at the roof and spent over an hour with me explaining the process working with me on how to improve the gutters so the flow would be better for my property. This did not mean more expensive gutters just a Different installation from previous. Once I contracted with them the project manger reached out to set up a start date. The team that came out to do the job was both professional and efficient. They did a great job. I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a new roof. They also coordinated with the team doing some chimney repairs on my house which was extremely helpful to me."

"We can’t say enough great things about the professionalism, punctuality and quality workmanship from 22nd Century Roofing. Adam and his crew were great to work with as we decided whether to repair or remove our chimney. The paperless transaction process they use is transparent, reliable and easy to follow from inspection to quote to job completion. We would definitely hire them for future roof work!"

"We had bad ice dams over the winter primarily in one location. I'm sure we could have gotten the entire roof replaced but the rest of the roof was fine. The bill was exactly on estimate, the work was done on time. When we asked the owner, Kevin, to come back and do a little more caulking he did so promptly and happily. We had the work inspected and the inspection passed. The roof looks better than when we bought the house."

"AAA+++ Just Fabulous! I met Pro Tech Senior Project Manager Nathan Knopp at my home after a terrible hail and wind storm struck my community on Lake Pulaski in Buffalo, MN this summer. Nathan was professional, courteous, respectful, fast, efficient and very easy to work with during the entire process of the work that Pro Tech did for us - Damage Assessment, Insurance Claim Submission / Estimate / Approval, Roof Shingle and Gutter Selection, Scheduling Work, Managing the Work Process and Follow-Thru. Nathan Knopp was very* well versed on how to best interface with our home insurance company and was able to fast track a claim to them using their own claim submission app / process. As a result, we were able to get our roof repair expedited which suited us perfectly. Pro Tech is a Platinum Partner with Owens Corning which means we were able to do a wholesale level upgrade on our shingles to TrueDefinition Duration Designer Level shingles and we decided on the Merlot pattern/color. Our materials and crew showed up as promised and the work was done fast and efficient and passed inspection with the City of Buffalo easily. With Nathan Knopp's guidance and support, we were also able to upgrade our gutter guard to a style/manufacturer that is better suited/engineered to our steep roof pitch for our designer lake home. I have to say that working with Nathan Knopp and Pro Tech was easy and very informative and my wife and I feel that we came away from this experience with not only an upgraded roof and gutters, but with a lot more understanding of how the roof and gutter system in our home works to protect our home from the elements. If you have to choose a company to restore your home, you MUST have Pro Tech and Nathan Knopp stop over to do your assessment! Thank you Nathan and Pro Tech!"

"Capital Construction installed roofs on my last two homes in Burnsville, MN. They are very professional, prompt and RELIABLE. Derek came out to perform my roof inspection and then met with my insurance inspector. He had gotten both homes approved easily. Derek and his team assisted me with the whole process. Both roof installations were stress free. The roofers were friendly, courteous and answered any questions I had during the installation. They came back after the initial clean up to insure there were no nails on the property. All I can say is that I will never use anyone else other than Capital Construction. I have had other roofing companies come out and they were not able to get my roof replacement approved with my insurance company. So, don't waste your time with anyone else. Call Capital Construction!"

"All work was done in one day. They removed the old roof and replaced with a new one, including the detached garage. We've had several heavy rains since then and I am not aware of any problems. I've found a few roofing nails and bits of old shingle that were missed during the clean up but nothing major.

"I highly recommend contacting Joe W for any home improvement needs. Our roof installation was a smooth process from start to finish! Our previous shingles ended being discontinued & Joe did a great job explaining the process and working with our insurance to ensure that we got the best possible replacement shingle. I love the color! What a huge improvement on our home!"

"Excellent company. We used them before when replacing our roof, then again one month later during a storm that damaged the original job. Two roofs in two months, perfect work.
On this present job they tore off old siding, wrapped the house and replaced with new vinyl siding. Perfect work from start to finish by not only the installers but also the salesperson, project manger and billing department.
Excellent company, you won't go wrong letting them do your work."

"It went well.  Ron was professional and did the entire job by himself.  At first estimate, I was taken aback by the price, since the materials themselves only added up to about $1200 max.  Yes, he charges about $225 an hour in labor...he was at our house for about 7.5 hours.  That originally put me off from sealing the deal, but then I thought about the job and how important it was to have an expert - this is, after all, holes in our brand new roof.  I know that if I ever called Velux about skylights, they would send me to Ron anyway, so he was the person we picked.
He comes at 6 am, but he insisted we didn't have to be up at that time, and started with the kitchen light rather than the bedroom so we could sleep.  He asked me to help by standing under the skylights and letting him know (while he was up there) if they were square and level in the hole.  I was a little nervous about that, but it was easy to see when they were in right.
To repair the roof around the opening, Ron brought shingles to match the house, but they weren't the right 'dimensional' style, so he used the shingles we had from our new roof job and knocked $25 off the price.  I thought that was nice.
I would definitely hire him again.  You are paying for his experience, and you don't want some cheap contractor messing with your skylights!  He also stands behind his install, however we have had no problems through many hard rains for the last two months.

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Princeton, MN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
