"HVAC install new build. Plans show upright unit 10’ from concrete front porch. Installed side-exhaust unit blowing on porch – forming ice and desiccating plants. To redirect exhaust, we built 4’ high fence around unit, meeting setbacks verified by Mitsubishi. Worked during construction heating to 50F. Next winter, heating to 68F, ice formed on house and under unit until toppled. Refused to correct without additional payment. Competitor devised solution we implemented –wind baffle, gap fence slats, drip pan, pipe drainage away, install outlet/place heat rod in pan to keep condensate liquid so drains away. Since posting, AmeriCool blamed everything except the main cause: poor placement of unit contradicting install reqs in manual. They needed to identify during rough in that location would not work so could be redirected to one of many alternative locations. AmeriCool threatened legal action if we post reviews.
